Question One
Jim Inhofe, James Lankford and Tom Cole are Oklahoma’s senators and representative respectively. Jim Inhofe is the senior senator in Oklahoma. Jim worked in aviation and insurance fields prior to joining the Congress. In fact, he was once the president of Quaker Life Insurance Company. He is the only individual in the Congress who has ever flown a plane. I like that this Republican has gradually nurtured his capabilities to venture into various life paths. He is stubbornly persistent. Despite losing the gubernatorial election in 1974, he was determined to crack the political arena. This is mainly evident given that he continued to self-sponsor his campaigns in spite of an opposing force from PAC contributions . He managed to amass influence and popularity especially due to his exceptional accomplishments.
Secondly, James Lankford is the junior senator in Oklahoma. After serving the Fall Creek Youth for over ten years as a director, he resigned to run for Congress. I like that James has managed to balance politics with religion. He is a devoted Christian who has successfully fought for religious freedom in his political endeavors. In fact, he specialized on divinity in his master’s degree. The commitment has seen him gather significant supporters from Oklahoma families. That explains why large individual and PAC contributions characterize his campaign finances. However, self-financing takes a bigger share.
Thirdly, Tom Cole has been representative for Oklahoma since 2002. Cole was a professor of politics and history before joining politics. Boosted by his excellence and the fact that his mother was also a politician, it was easy for him to wade through this game. Tom has proven to boast skills that promote democracy and stability. Hence, he has garnered a lot of support from Americans and the government officials. That is why individual and PAC contributions account for the greatest share of his campaign finance. Self-finance comprises a small and insignificant fraction.
Question Two
Jim’s interesting encounter is his theory that refutes global warming. Adamantly and shamelessly, Inhofe disapproved global warming before the Senate. Regardless of having intangible evidence, particularly one standing against the existing supporting material of global warming, he was convinced by his theory. In fact, he authored a book titled “The Greatest Hoax” which endears to extrapolate his suppositions. However, the theory does not approach global warming as a long-term process thus missing the point (McArthur).
On the other hand, James Lankford’s ways of expression are interesting. He is courageous and does not fear to say what must be said. He challenges the government in various issues including moral values. Other critical aspects he underscores include wasteful expenditure, debt crisis, and the unaccountability of government officials. He aligns his efforts with the different faith that govern Oklahoma families. Even better, his inputs are bearing fruits given that President Obama signed a bill proposed by Lankford – International Religious Freedom Act. The law allows expansion of religion around the globe and prevents the persecution of religious minorities.
Finally, the most interesting thing about Tom is his strategic knack. Cole has highly transform issues revolving around tax payment, national defense, and tribunal governments through unmatchable propositions. He is said to be the greatest mind in the Congress. The top strategist has graced the Republican Congressional Committee. Tom has risen through the ranks due to his intellect. More so, he has also secured the Congressional Leadership Award. He has been involved in negotiations of budget deals, particularly those that involve bipartisan situations like those of 2014 and 2015 fiscal years (McArthur). Therefore, his reputation as a strategist precedes him.
