Reflection on literature search
The four sources identified during the literature search had a lot of significant in addressing the PICO question. The use of search terms made it possible to identify different sources related to the same issue and select the best among the sources for review. The database consists of articles from different authors addressing various issues; hence, making it easier to select the article that has more significance. On the other hand, it became hard identifying an article containing all search terms. Most of the literature search consisted of only two or three search terms, which affected the overall outcome of the search process. Additionally, it was difficult selecting a specific nursing article from a list of many became a problem because they all addressed almost similar issues.
The search process taught me many lessons about using search terms and selecting an appropriate article to address the question raised. Using search terms brings the researcher close to the article by eliminating other articles that may be addressing a similar problem but with a different perspective. Additionally, I learned how to select an article from a list through proper analysis of its objectives and outcomes and relating them to the issue addressed. Finally, some databases seemed hard to use requiring more clarification. The Science Direct and CINAHL databases did not develop any results after the search.
