Under the proposed rule for Water Quality Standards, The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends alteration to the federal water quality standards (WQS) regulation at 40 CFR Part 131. This in turn will aid in the implementation of the Clean Water Act for the effective restoration and maintenance of the quality of the countries waters. When the proposed rule becomes final it will lead to improved water quality and better management of water systems for efficient adaptation and also to meet the brunt of climate change. The proposed rule was published on the Federal Register on the 4th of September, 2013.
The latest protocol issued by the EPA in regard of the water quality standard will definitely improve not only the quality of water but also the standard of public life in every part of the nation. The proposed rule will ensure that the Clean Water Act which has been undermined until now by organizations in order to save money is stringently followed, that is, the water has to be processed thoroughly. There is no question of releasing unprocessed water as this will lead to severe action against the concerned organization. Action and awareness is necessary for ensuring and uplifting the water quality standards. The changes brought in by the EPA will definitely make the water quality standards clear cut and evident at the state level. It will also empower the federal government to take necessary action in case there is a violation of the protocol which might cause harm to the water quality. The rule will ensure major benefits and related to both state and federal water standards if its execution is meticulous and methodological.
