New Employee Socialization: U.S. EPA New Employee Onboarding Video
The video posted on the popular video sharing website, Youtube, by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency can be described to be very intriguing as a new employee socialization video indeed. One of the primary attractions of the video is the engagement of the current employees of the organization who take part in providing a comprehensive description of the formation, functioning and responsibilities of EPA. Another very intriguing aspect of this video in context is the proper explication of the various major successes that have been achieved by the organization over the course of time in the United States. The immense significance of the accomplishments in the lives of people as well as the environment has been properly highlighted by the speakers who take part in the video. The success of this video lies in the fact that it shares with the new employee the history as well as the intricate details of the organization in a simplistic manner indeed, thereby easing the understanding process of the new employee and making him or her feel like being a part of this responsible organization that has a major role to play in the protection of the environment of the country.
What do you think the organization could have done to make the video more useful?
The video about the new employee socialization in the EPA could have paid more stress on the regional issues and the roles played by the regional offices in particular. That would have made this video in context more comprehensive for the new employees who endeavor to get acquainted with the functioning of the organization. The video could have also described a little about the respective roles of the employees of the organization so as to make the new employees understand the job profiles that they have to get accustomed to while working for EPA. Thus, there remains some room for development in the making of this video, although it can fairly be said that the video looks impressive and engaging with all its description, visual information and special effects.
