Bacons rebellion happened in Virginia in the year 1675, after colonists murdered Susquehannock Indians. That particular incidence sparked the rebellion and the war acted partly as civil insurrection. It resulted to unrest and affected the Indians and European relations in Virginia. Hardliners like Nathaniel Bacon wanted the Indians eliminated while William Berkeley (governor) believed in protection of the Indians (Stanard, 2010).
Little doubts exist on the impact the bacons rebellion had. This is because it remains prominent in Virginia’s history. It changed the nature that the colonial government was structured. It also radicalized colonial relations between the Europeans and the Native Virginia Indians (Wertenbaker, 2010).
The bacons revolution resulted in alteration of the relationships between the colonialists and the native Indians. It created greater mistrust issues and marginalization on the surviving Indians. It also resulted in racial hatred that resulted to violence against the Indians by the Europeans.
Indian tribes were destroyed and it brought havoc on them. They despised the European for these. It took a lot of time (several generations)for them to be to get back to the state they were previously in terms of relationship between the two groups (Stanard, 2010).
The Europeans changed in to slavery as the only source of labor. This is to say that the native Indians were to be the source of labor. This further depreciated the relationship between the Indians and the Europeans.
Bacon rebellion led to the Europeans becoming more suspicious because of the native Indians. Their relationship became much more difficult (Stanard, 2010). Their ties also became strenuous because the Americans said that they were thieves and swindlers. They killed many Indians and escaped with their livestock. Thus, the rebellion had many negative effects to the relationship between the Europeans and the Indians as compared to positive ones.
