I do not think that Susan performed as a good manager in this situation. Danny found alarming facts, and he is really worried about the patients of the Hillshire hospital. However, Susan behaves rather strange telling him there is nothing to be done about it.
If I were in Susan's shoes, I think that I would deal with the situation differently. I think that the first thing for her to do was to go to the hospital's administration and to talk to them. She should have checked the evidence found by Danny and she should have talked to the administration about the problems they were having. Also, Susan should have paid more attention to Danny. She should have talked to him more, and have listened to him more carefully. The way it was, it looked like Susan did not want to listen to Danny and to understand his point. She kept talking about the better good, but what can be more important than people's health and, ultimately, their lives? It even looks as though Susan has some interest in keeping the situation the way it is. Danny says his research proves that the hospital does not deserve to treat people, let alone additional funding. And Susan somehow does not want to listen to his reason.
All in all, I think Susan performed as a bad manager. She says she is thinking about the company, but it really does not look like that. I think she either has some hidden motives, or, if she does not have them, she should have discusses Danny's anxiety with other employees. She should have let him express his fears and let the company decide what to do.
