Morality is defined as the principles that distinguish between what is right and wrong and also differentiates between good and bad behavior. Since time immemorial, the society has always acknowledged the importance of embracing moral principles and values. The moral code should be observed by all members of the society as it reduces evil acts in our daily endeavors. During the time of birth, a baby is morally upright because it cannot go against the will and expectations of the family. As one grows up, immoral behaviors start to creep in. For example, human beings, start to realize that some situations require lying, and this kills honesty and sincerity of many individuals. The paper will elucidate on the importance of upholding morality within the society. Moreover, it will comprehensively address the dangers involved when people fail to recognize moral principles and values.
Morality is fundamental to any society across the universe. It is not advisable for people to live within the laws of nature. People must be subjected to certain norms and standards as it restores peace and order in life. Living by the laws of nature means that every individual will be concerned about his/her interests. The survival for the fittest tactic will be common, and people will live in a constant fear of bereavement. People will no longer be willing to assist each other, and there will be more enemies than friends. The lack of moral rules will mean that the world would be full of fights, and calmness will be a difficult goal to achieve. The introduction of moral principles will prevent the world from becoming a muddled one, with full of mayhem.
Luckily, morality is embraced in our society by a good number of persons. People live by a social contract. Therefore, we need morality so that we can live in agreement with the social contract and moral values set by the society. Practicing morality will shun the bad behaviors and life will be very enjoyable. Those who are not ready to subscribe to morality argues that moral rules deny us the freedom to practice what we want. It should be put clearly that without the rules, the society might not flourish. In another point of view, some people think that the rules and regulations will limit our freedom, but on a thoughtful perspective, individuals will be assured of countless freedom and wellbeing.
We need morality since it establishes an orderly system within the society (Pojman 215). The need to learn how to obey moral rules should be embraced. The absence of morality would create an environment full of pandemonium, death, and more harm. From childhood, morality should be embedded in the generation, and the rules and regulations must be followed to the letter. Parents should guide their children and instill behaviors that match the moral standards. It is impossible for a society to coexist in the absence of moral regulations.
Morality helps us to coexist peaceful and also solves emerging conflicts in a systematic fashion. In every person, there exist an inner demon that unleashes itself in times of conflict. Respecting the moral code will prevent us from losing our temper and maintain a sense of reality. Without moral rules, the inner demons act in a destructive manner within the society. There are various reasons why we need morals and values in the society. Upholding the set of moral principles help us to move a step further towards achieving our noble goals. It is also important because we control the self-serving motives that mislead us in most occasions.
Morality avoids emotions and bad habits, and it helps people to focus on the positive things that occur in the world. Apart from providing guidance, moral values encourage and influence people by giving them energy and zeal to participate in meaningful activities. Immoral tendencies often result to self-dissatisfaction, and this causes destruction to our way of life. The persons that believe and practices moral values have a high self-esteem, a critical component of a productive life. Therefore, we need moral because upholding values contribute to a successful life.
Moral values help us to look and feel appealing and good. Immorality leads to hypocrisy and pretense that creates mistrust amongst individuals. We need morality because it guides us in overcoming hurdles in our daily lives. In this process, it becomes easier to value our true worth, and this helps us to achieve our greatest potential. When individuals experience weaknesses, moral values help them to find a valuable strength that helps in controlling the situation and achieving a remarkable experience.
As human beings, we need morality because we are social animals. The principles of morality helps us to interact peacefully with one another without conflicts. Human beings need one another and they must live together as friends and not enemies. Moral values is for the best interests of all people and creates a stable environment. It eliminates selfishness in the society and make people to be concerned about one another. The level of caring is boosted contributing to a helpful society in general. It would be suicidal to overlook the benefits that stems from practicing morality. Every person should work on adopting moral values in his/her life.
Morality helps people to feel guilt whenever they go against the norms and expectations of the society. As a result, it helps people to have a sense of responsibility and engage in positive social development. Morality is necessary for our daily encounters and failure to embrace it will create a confused system that will not guide people to their destiny.
When we become moral, we are helpful to the society. It is evident that moral people are ready to volunteer and commit themselves to helping the disadvantaged people, the sick, and the elderly. Moral people help the unfortunate because of their willing heart. It hurts them to see a section of the population undergoing pain and suffering. Therefore, people should focus on the need to be moral as it improves the status of life.
Moral citizens also pay taxes and respect the rule of law. In most situation, immoral citizens have failed to pay taxes despite the government using it to run its operations (Pojman 214). Lack of moral values is a leading cause of criminal activities, and law offenders have ended up rotting in jail. If everyone were morally upright, the high rates of crime would be reduced, and the jails will have no prisoners.
Nonetheless, we need moral values since they help human beings to achieve a sense of peace and satisfaction. A moral person is not tempted to engage activities that fail to benefit them in any way. We should embrace morality because it develops essential virtues like honesty, courage, compassion, forgiveness, and modesty to us. These virtues are important since they help people to create positive interactions by living freely within the society.
Honest people are easily trusted and highly respected by all members of the society. Immoral persons lack integrity and wisdom to handle situations in life. Also, they are insincere and unfair because of the passion for fulfilling their selfish interests without thinking about the consequences of their actions. Morality prevents us from being non-judgmental to incidences that are unclear in life. We remain compassionate and ready to be helpful to others.
As a moral value, courage is very essential in one’s life. We are determined to face the hurdles that act as stumbling blocks towards a progressive life. Courageous people avoid fear, and nothing will hold them back from attaining their aspirations. It also results in a high level of confidence to what you do, and this eliminates the fear of failure. Courageous persons will bravely face the world and offer solutions to presenting challenges. Moreover, moral people are modest in everything that they do. Modest individuals are aware of their limits and will avoid engaging in activities that stem from overconfidence and recklessness. Morality will help people to get close to you because you motivate them about positivity. On the other side, immoral persons are cruel, aggressive and violent and causes damage at all times. They are poor in making friends and most people fear their presence.
As expounded above, there are various reasons why we need morality. Moral principles and values create a system that restores orders in the society. If the conduct of people is not regulated, the world will always be in chaotic and mayhem. Morality means that the rule of law should be respected, and any person that interferes with it should be punished. A society that does not respect the rule of law ends up failing to achieve its goals and ambitions. People must be subjected to certain norms and standards as it restores peace and order in life. Moral persons are satisfied in life, happy, kind, humble, and ambitious. It is, therefore, important to practice morality because it influences our lives in a positive way.
