Imagine a world without light, what would it look like? Visible light, an essential component of electromagnetic spectrum, forms the basis of our lives. Without light everyone would be blind, and the world would have no meaning. It is through visible light that we can see.
Electromagnetic radiations are very useful in our daily life. In the recent past, cancer has claimed the life of many professionals, such as the life of the Apple chief executive officer. X-rays provide a solution to this emerging problem. X-rays are used in radiotherapy to destroy malignant cancer cells. Cooking is made easy by the use of microwaves.
It is interesting to find the duality of existence of light particles. The electromagnetic radiations posses wave properties and particle properties. This provides for discovering the nature of existence of many things in the universe. Understanding the basic properties of nature is critical in understanding our world. It is interesting to find radiations in the lower extreme, such as radio waves and micro waves behaves more as waves, while on the higher extreme of the frequencies behaves more like particles. Moreover, microwaves have been used to study the universe; the stars and galaxies. Therefore, they help in understanding the composition of the universe.
Electromagnetic waves, such as radio waves and microwaves have transformed the way we communicate. Television and radio programs forms a great part of our entertainment programs. In an observation, microwave transmissions for live coverage of events, such as the soccer, has increased in the recent past. Moreover, media broadcast, in radios and televisions, has increased the level of democracy in many countries. Also, infra red radiations are widely used in remote control of devices, such as televisions. The application of electromagnetic radiations has enhanced our standards of living.
Lastly, I love the topic “electromagnetic spectrum” because it shows a variety of nature’s radiations. Nature it is endowed with unique radiations and each has its unique application. Also, it is amazing to realize the broad radiations that nature can produce. This realization of the limitless nature is essential for inventions of more radiations. It creates the desire and curiosity to know more. This is essential for scientific inquiry.
