Why I Would Be An Asset To The Medical School And The Medical Profession Personal Statement Examples

Through my friends enrolled in medical programs, and my parent’s friends, I have learned that medicine is a lifelong commitment to learning. Instead of going out to the party, evenings are spent revising material in order to benefit the future patients. Thus, in order to succeed at medical training there are several qualities that students must possess, namely: devotion, determination, and endurance. However, learning from books is not all it takes to be a good practitioner, and many years of experience are necessary until one actually becomes a master healer. The maladies of the patient have many nuances, and only a skillful physician will be able to determine the sometimes subtle differences between physical or psychiatric, and acute or chronic illnesses. As one who is committed to medical studies, I will bring several skills to bear in my studies such as: attention to detail, good organization skills, interpersonal skills, and importantly a desire to learn quickly. At this point I am excited about helping others and I would like to use my strengths of will to help others heal and get better. Medicine is an educational journey that never ends, and each step of that journey will prepare me to be a better doctor for my next patient.
The education in Medical School will provide me with a solid foundation in the sciences that will inform my future clinical decisions. My coping abilities will be tested in demanding hospital settings and by the arduous hospital shifts that healthcare workers must undertake. My goal will be to support my patients through their trials and teach them about the disease process that they are going through in order to insure that they are able to help themselves as much as possible. Ultimately, it is the physician’s job to dispense medicine, but it is up to other hospital workers, family members, society, and the patient themselves to promote full recovery and healing.
Prominent features of medicine are the promotion of health, management of common diseases, and the maintenance of the special relationship between patient and physician over the long-term. These aspects of medicine attract me to its study. Furthermore, every patient comes to the physician with a unique set of problems and signs that provide a mystery for the practitioner and provide a fresh challenge. The variety of the work is very stimulating for me, and at all times I will be required to remain disciplined, focused, and anchored by the scientific method in order to deliver the highest levels of healthcare that I am able.
Practicing medicine will give me a chance to treat many different people, both young and old. While the scientific aspects of medicine are important, it is perhaps more important to remember that the patient is not an object, but a living being, and their quality of life is the most important thing to manage. My life experiences have taught me the value of kindness, respect, and discipline, and I look forward for the chance to use these skills to make an impact on the lives of a large number of people. In practicing medicine, my primary goal is to provide excellent patient care. At the center of the discussion of healthcare is the patient, and the only thing that matters in the hospital setting is their satisfaction and improved quality of life. The work will be very difficult, and at times very tiring. I aspire to provide excellent care to every person I meet, and this program will provide the foundation necessary to do so.
