Murray, the current mayor of Seattle, has set up plans for moving the squatters out. This is to be done by providing them with roads and services that are easily accessible to the police and service crews, unlike the plan of the past bulldozers-led sweeps that was not compassionate by displacing the people who were homeless. With the help of Union Mission teams which has made treatment and shelter available, many people have managed to move away from the Jungle. The city staff also say that the shelters have rooms provided by the state and can accommodate everyone.
One of the key inference is that, the Murray’s plan, the aid from Mission teams and also the state, have played a great role in making the Jungle’s population to shrink dramatically. Another inference is that long term solutions must be involved so as to address the issue of homelessness. These resolutions require the support of the federal government by providing subsidized housing and the state so as to fund the health sector in the region
Action has to be taken due to the unpleasant nature of the Jungle. The issue homelessness experienced by people living in the Jungle needs to be eliminated by moving the squatters in places with good shelters as it will enable them live in peace.
