The purpose of this article is to provide simple solutions to digestive disorders that may cause an upset stomach. Bad food has been identified as one of the main causes of digestive disorders and other chronic conditions including celiac disease, irritable bowel syndrome, ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease (Cohen 1). The author has identified four common digestive problems such as constipation, diarrhea and painful cramps, hemorrhoids and heart burn.
Patients who are constipated can also drink aloe vera juice can to normalize their bowel movements.
For patients who suffer from painful cramps and chronic diarrhea, the author has recommended the use of ginger root, which is readily available at the grocery store. Ginger can cure digestive pains, menstrual cramps, inflammation, and nausea (Cohen 1). Another suggestion of the author is the use of peppermint leaves that can be transformed to peppermint oil. Such essential oil aids in indigestion, avoids bloating, and calms the stomach muscles. Peppermint can also improve the bile flow from the digestive system and fat absorption (Cohen 1). Peppermint oil can be used in beverages such as tea and smoothies. The fresh mint leaves can also be included in salads or can just be eaten raw.
Another common digestive disorder is hemorrhoids or the swelling of the veins surrounding the anus. To avoid this situation, drinking stool softeners and 8 glasses of water can prevent hemorrhoids. Silica solution can be used as a medication for hemorrhoids which can be applied to the outer portion of the rectum to soothe the burning sensation (Cohen 1).
The last common digestive disorder is the heartburn which is brought about by acid reflux, when the acidic liquids react from the stomach the esophagus (Cohen 1). Some of the causes of heartburn are the allergic reactions to gluten, wheat protein, and milk protein. The best cure for heartburns are antacid tablets in the form of “Maalox” and “Tums” and they can relieve the burning sensation in the chest and throat (Cohen 1).
