Introduction
A windshield survey, usually conducted from a car, gives a visual overview of the area, regarding development, and conditions that are prevalent in the community that may affect the health of the population. There is necessity to understand the community in community needs, housing, transportation, health related issues, services, geographic structure, habitat, economy, ethnicity, religion, community needs and strengths, the available resources and the gaps in the resources. This will help in proper planning in effective services within the community.

Q. How long you have been associated with this area?
A I have been associated with this area for a long time, serving for about 8 years (Minister)
I have been associated for close to about 26 years now (Superintendent)
Q. What are the conditions of housing and transportation in this area?
A. The housing and the transportation of this area is greatly improved since implementing of various developmental programs by both government and private associations. The Housing Authority along with other organizations is able to provide affordable housing especially for low income and middle-income people. The transportation comprises of all type of facilities, like road, air, bicycle network etc. There is also public transportation for the low-income group.
Q. What are the types of services that are you providing in this area?
A Variety of services are provided covering, community, social, health, municipality, irrigation waste management, police and fire and modern facilities available in urban areas.
Q. How much Greenery is here and what are the recreational facilities available here?
A Lots of parks and greenery including wild life habitats along with different recreational facilities, like theme parks, museums etc. are present.
Q How is the economy of this area?
A Though there is improvement still there are a lot of low-income group people, people of different races and immigrants in this area that needs development.
Q What are the basic community needs of this area?
A The community needs are many regarding health, social welfare and child development in relation to mental, physical and emotional since this area is dominated by various ethnic groups besides whites with different social values and concepts. Besides children coming from poorer section of society needs special development.
Q How do these needs can be fulfilled?
A The needs can be fulfilled by implementing programs right from the birth of the children and taking care of pregnant women.
Q What are the resources available to carry out the needs?
A There are various organizations who are working with government bodies in carrying out several developmental programs in this context.
Q What are the policies adapted to implements the development?
A the various policies adopted by state and other social organisations includes California Child Care resources and Referral Network, that implements in taking are children right from birth and educating pregnant women. Other policies, include California Child Development Administrators Association that implements in organizing publicly funded child development programs. Child Care Law Centre is a national nonprofit legal organisation that ensures high quality childcare affordable to very child, every family and community in terms of civil rights, housing and economic development, family violence, and regulation and licensing.
