Executive Summary
The technology that we use has started to become wireless. Wireless technology is freeing up clutter. This project attempts to understand the present scenario & commonly available standards for connecting two or more pieces of equipment wirelessly. However, the project limits itself to the commonly prevalent technology of Bluetooth & Wireless Fidelity or Wi-Fi.
The Project begins by highlighting the prominent differences between the two protocols. It details differences in terms of application in everyday life i.e. where one commonly finds Bluetooth & in turn where is Wi-Fi more suitable. In terms of technical differences, the project evaluates the different speeds at which the two technologies operate going on to state why one technology may perform better than another despite its inherent advantages. The project also chronicles the most basic requirement of the Wireless Technologies & that is the operating range the two technologies can operate making sure to highlight the effectiveness of the technologies too. The economics or affordability of the technologies is also discussed wherein the upfront input cost is analyzed & then relative benefits in terms of the afore mentioned points obtained. It goes on to summarize that though Bluetooth is relatively nascent, owing to its simplicity & easy availability, its popularity & usage has rivaled Wi-Fi. The project tries to highlight the individual strength of the communication standards over one another & how Wi-Fi, despite being an older technology had to re-emerge & realign to match the onslaught of Bluetooth. The project then boroughs deeper with comparison between the two technologies in terms of security & also sheds light on the evolution of both the protocols. Finally, the project even offers some human behavioural patterns in terms of preference towards the two Wireless Technologies.
