Trade publication is a form of publication mainly a magazine, which is geared to individuals who work in certain businesses. Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) is a form of publication aimed to the designers’ knowledge. It has brought revolution to the fashion industry since it was founded with its main target being to curb the influence of old fashioned styles of design. However, the publication aimed at developing a social impact among social designers as well as their clients. This is achieved through development of a group of celebrity among designers. Therefore, its target market was mainly the designers who emphasize on the advancing pool of celebrities in the globe.
The WWD covers the designer industry for individuals who operate in the industry. The main concern with the operations in the industry is that there is need to take advantage of the rising levels of celebrity in the world. Unlike consumer publication, WWD does not go into details of certain elements as it acts as advisory to designers and it is not meant for directing consumers. However, they are the same in that they aim at the final satisfaction of the client. Designers are advised to operate in a given manner so that they may influence satisfaction of customers in the industry.
The WWD publication is usually released to the public in different ways. It may be either in the printed version or as a website. Each of the two versions is unique in traits. One of the main differences between the two versions is that a print version consists of the main forms of advertisements while the website version consists of minimal advertisements. In most cases, the print version is more detailed than the website version meaning that the printed version is more detailed than the website version.
The WWD is known of publishing different forms of articles. It mainly focuses on fashion related articles while it does not dismiss the existence of other issues which are not related to fashion. There are also articles on “Spring 2014 trend” (WWD, 2014), which aim at expounding on the changes or advances that are being witnessed in the global fashion.
An article is usually made unique by availability of special sections. The WWD has utilized certain sections to define its uniqueness. On its Facebook and Twitter accounts there are certain sections that make the publication extremely influential as well as significant. Such sections are trends, they are wearing, parties, backstage, resort and pre-fall and model call. These are sections that are full of attractiveness as the aim at exposing certain elements that are only evident on those lines. They are pins that used to indicate how fashion is being used to cause differences in the society. For example, the section of “they are wearing” is significant in defining how free individuals are to come up with their own forms of fashion (WWD, 2014).
As a form of publication that is read by different people, the WWD contains advertisements. They are usually platforms set aside for willing business individuals to post advertisements. Unlike consumer magazines, WWD does not allow firms in the fashion industry to advertise on the publication. This prevents some companies from dominating others in the industry following their ability to bid extremely high for advertisement opportunities (WWD, 2014). It mainly consists of advertisements that may benefit all firms in the industry.
The WWD remains an extremely influential publication to the fashion industry. Different designers use the publication as reference to changes being witnessed in the fashion industry. It carries out different functions in the industry from consumer magazines.
