Should limits be placed on the legal rights of women to obtain an abortion from a healthcare provider?
YES. North Dakota lawmakers had completed an action to outlaw almost all abortions beginning at conception (Winter 2013). The house that was dominated by republicans also approved the personhood amendment that asks voters to change the state’s constitution to make it recognize and protect the inalienable right of every human being at any stage of development (Winter 2013). Apart from conferring human rights on fertilized eggs and outlawing abortion, the proposition could potentially affect end-of-life for adults (Winter 2013).
In my opinion, limits should be placed on the legal rights of women to obtain from a healthcare provider. Alternatively, even better still, all abortions should be illegalized. Neither the healthcare providers nor the parent have the authority to give life, but only God, who is a supernatural being has that authority. Therefore, bestowing the responsibility of deciding on the lives that they do not create would be going against the creation laws.
Secondly, life begins at conception, just as these law makers also suggested. Therefore, if mothers were permitted to obtain an abortion, it would be equivalent to giving them equal permission to take away the life of their children – even the already born. Therefore, in legal proceedings, any mother who obtains an abortion should be charged with murder and receive the same sentence as a person charged with premeditated murder.
Finally, if medical practitioners are permitted to perform abortions of any kind, they would even conduct illegal abortions while taking cover of the law and then give false information. In this case, it would not be easy to ascertain the legal abortions and the illegal ones since the parents can bribe healthcare providers to conduct illegal abortions, which could endanger the mother’s life as well as that of the fetus.
