Introduction
This is granting of voting rights to women as well as running for office. In the 19th century in most parts of the word women were not granted the right to vote. This led to the formation of international organizations to advocate for the rights of women all over the world. In 1893, adult women were granted the right to vote in New Zealand by the British Colony. In 1895, the British Colony in Australia allowed women to vote as well as the right to run for ofiice.Thereafter the women were granted voting rights as well as running for office. Women suffrage entails all factors and efforts to eliminate the discrimination of women in all sorts. Women have been discriminated on various grounds treating them as housewives, witchcraft agents as well denial of the right to education.
Women’s suffrage campaigns started in 1910 in the United States. They used parades as ways of making them campaigns public. The first congress woman into office in US was in 1916.In the time of the World War I, women served the support role as nurses. In the 19th amendment of United States, women were granted the voting rights when the war ended, in 1920.
Other areas of concern were religious issues, for instance, in relation Catholicism, women were excluded from appointment of Pope. They were also not allowed to elect the Pope. In Islam, the issue of women becoming religious leaders was not allowed. These concerns relating to religion were really taken into consideration because the religious institutions were very rigid in relation to changing their laws.
In my opinion, granting women the right to revolutionary because several activists organized parades with efforts to stop discriminating women. This brought to the attention of the public about their voting rights as well as running for office.
