2010 Chaos Study Application
Today, in the era of high digital technology, IT projects are gaining more and more popularity. IT projects are gradually being introduced in an increasing number of spheres of human life, from transportation and delivery of pizza to coordination of space travel and the development of new medical treatments for various diseases. With the emergence of these IT projects, the need to manage the project properly becomes paramount. It is no secret that from the beginning of the creation of an IT start up till the final product is delivered there is a long way filled with the collaboration of departments for the development, financing and design, control and management over which rests on the shoulders of the Human Resources Management Department.
According to Frese and Sauter (December 16, 2003) any projects, whether it is IT or some other sphere of activity, should correspond to the five most important factors to be successful. These factors are 1. user involvement, 2. executive management support, 3. clear statement of requirements, 4. proper planning and 5. realistic expectations. If we take a look at Mocacare project, that has first appeared on the Kickstarter platform on November 18, 2014, we will see that the project is successful and fits all of the necessary factors from the CHAOS Report (1994, p.4). According to Szondy (September 17, 2015) Mocacare's Mocaheart is a “cardiovascular health monitor that combines thumb scans with algorithms to measure blood flow and velocity as a way to assess blood pressure, heart rate, and blood oxygen levels”. User involvement factor loaded at an early stage allowed Mocacare to describe their ideas on Kickstarter and let potential users to immediately get acquainted with the product and even sponsor its production. Executive management support - this is what Mocacare launched simultaneously with the beginning of the company and that allowed their sponsors to be on the same level with the developers themselves, tracking their actions. Clear statement of requirements - transparency of their actions and a clear statement of the financial requirements of the project allowed Mocacare to collect the necessary sum and to start production of a demo unit. Proper planning and realistic expectations - fourth and fifth factors of success of the project, which was characterized by the Mocacare start up allowed the project to establish mass production of the Macaheart gadget and on September 19, 2015 to be able to ship the first batch of its devices to the backers.
All in all, success of project is the right management approach, which allowed Mocacare to act according to the plan. moving from one task to another, directly to the final realization of the product.
