Q.1. Describe the physical working conditions related to your current employment
The physical working condition at my workplace involves sitting all day long. It is an office job so I have to sit at my desk for most of my working hours. Moreover, I have to commute to and fro work every day. At the end of the day, I feel that I have some back pains related to too much sitting. Studies reveal that too much sitting is associated with health problems such as high blood sugar, too much body fat, high blood pressure as well as other cardiovascular ailments.
Q.2. Discuss how you think your workplace relates to the kinds of health risks associated with these factors in the readings.
At my workplace, there are a number of health risks that are associated with what I do, both mentally and physically. First, I have to commute to and from work. At work, I experience stress which is caused by a number of factors which include boredom, poor pay, conflicts with co-workers, aspects of no promotion as well as lack of control over my skills and decisions.
Q.3. Describe the degree of control you have over your job demands and decision making in the workplace.
During work, my mental health is affected by the job strain which includes lack of control over my skills as well as abilities. My nerve-wracking employer controls everything. Studies detail that high demand or workload affects our mental health. Many people concentrate on physical health and overlook mental health because it is hidden at work. However, many employees suffer from psychological complications which mainly result from stress. (Maclean, Catherine, Webber & French, 884).
Q.4. Describe how your workplace impacts your eating and physical activity behaviors.
Working at the office means sitting without any significant physical activity. Additionally, there is no healthy eating program and the food offered is not balanced in nutrients. Basically, this is unhealthy for all the employees.
Q.5 Three specific recommendations you would make to improve the health supportive environment of your workplace.
In order to have a healthy working condition at my work place, I would recommend that employer eliminate any source of stress at work which includes too much workload. I would also recommend an environment that encourages physical activities at work to avoid sitting for too long which is unhealthy. Finally, I would recommend that employers provide workers with the best eating programs as well as balanced nutrition.
