THE SECOND WORLD WAR
World War II was an international conflict that began in 1939 and was put to an end in 1945. The conflict began in Europe but other countries in Asia, Latin America, North America and Africa joined the war later on the side of the axis powers (Germany, Bulgaria, Hungary, Italy, Romania and Japan) and the allied powers (Britain, France, USSR, Brazil, Canada, china, Norway etc). The main cause of the Second World War was the dissatisfaction by the effect of the World War I because Germany carried the greatest responsibility and loss. A apart from the fines that were paid, the Germany government lost its two provinces to France (Zalampas, 1989).
Governments, institutions and groups created the United Nations (UN) after the League of Nations formed after WW I failed to stop WW II. The League of Nations was to maintain peace as well as stability among European countries. After 24th October, 1945 when the UN was formed, the allied members supported the UN and shared power among five nations unlike during the formation of the League of Nations when power was divided between 2-3 nations (Weinberg, 2005).
The out come was a more stable UN which has managed to maintain the peace across the world. In fact through the UN participation, the world managed to avoid the third world war which could have been more catastrophic because many superpower nations and Cuba had acquired nuclear weapons. The war led to emergent of new super powers like the United States and the USSR. However, the US was the main beneficiary because the fighting took place in foreign land and the US joined the war when it was nearly ending.
