POST 1
I am amenable to having a living will drafted as early as possible. The future is very unpredictable and it pays to have one now. Having a living will have several advantages. A living will alleviate the responsibility of your family to decide for you and your best interest, on whatever medical treatment is necessary at that time. It lifts the burden off your family on what needs to be done during a very difficult time. Having everything outlined also eliminates confusion and disagreement on the right treatment for you. It makes decisions easier for everyone. Having a living will also ensure that your forms of treatments are going to be followed until the very end. This is very important most especially if some treatments creates conflicts with your religious beliefs.
POST 2
Deciding on a physician-assisted suicide, if diagnosed with a terminal illness is very difficult to do especially if one is bound by religious beliefs. Personally, I would not want to go with it. I would prefer to die naturally when the time comes. However, I would like everything medically possible to be done to try and cure my illness, if and only if a cure is possible. Beyond that, you must weight your values regarding the extension of one’s life via artificial means. Whether it be legalized as a medical procedure or not is another matter. I vote for it to be legalized since not everyone share the same religious beliefs and should be given options to choose from when it comes to how they would want to end their life.
