Emergency preparedness
First of all I would like to tell that I enjoyed the course. It was the one of the subjects that are really needed for life. Emergency preparedness is a topic that is vital for life and once it may save your life. I think that all people should know the basics of the emergency preparedness to know how to act in case of disaster.
During this course I have learned a lot of important things. First of all I got knowledge on packing an emergency supply kit, the main medicine, documents and personal care items that should be there. I had general knowledge about it, but the emergency preparedness course helped me to learn more about it. Also, I have learned more about the main risks that we can face in everyday life, the types of emergencies and ways of response. It is worth mentioning that now I know the main places where I can get more information about calamities and responses on it (Emergency management organizations), I learnt more about the media where I can be informed about the emergency and the given information would be valid.
Even though I have got a lot of new information, there were some things that were completely new for me and changed my view on the issue. I know that we have to take care about ourselves, our relatives, kids during the evacuation and in case of emergency, but somehow I forgot about pets. This course helped me to realize how important it is. Now I know how to help pets and what the owners of pets have to do in cases of extraordinary situation, what has to be packed for the pets and how to evacuate them.
Based on the knowledge, earned during the course, there is a topic I want to know more about. There is such a thing as an emergency plan. I have got basic knowledge on it, but I would like to study it deeper. I think that it is necessary for everybody. If at least one person from the family is good at it, it may be easier for all the members to overcome the disaster.
I think that homeland security is worth learning. As conscious citizens we have to help the government to take care about us. We need to learn the main things about homeland security programs our state can offer us and we have to use this information when it is necessary. When citizens are ready to cooperate with the government it can help to build the safe state for life and it may decrease the number of loss in case of the catastrophe.
