Ethics provides information about right and bad actions that affect our personality. The book, Blind Spot, provides different approaches to ethics and focuses on the ethical behavior in an organization. I have different perceptions of good and bad behavior from the book. It has increased my knowledge about the business ethics and its scope in the world. It is focused on behavioral ethics and importance of creating the fair and corporate culture within an organization. The book has described that different people behave unethically that affects their reputation in the organization .
It is explained that blind spots such as unethical decision-making have generated tragedies and negative results. The individual ethical gaps directly affect the organizational culture and other employees that promote unethical practices. The success of any organization is directly associated with the organization employees ethical practices and other functions. It provides me the information about bounded ethicality and decision failure when we face difficulties in differentiating the right and wrong actions. I have found information about different traditional approaches such as consequentialist and deontological approaches and understand the restrictions such as moral awareness, moral intention, moral judgment, another. Those limits affect the person’s ability and become an important cause of decision failure .
I have understood that motivated blindness is a common failure of individuals to observe the unethical behavior of others however, that behavior would harm the observer. I have learned the concept of personal ethical behavior and read some recommendation for improving the behavior. According to my perceptions, ethics has a greater impact on the success and failure of every organization. It educates the employees to act with a certain behavior and perform different tasks in an ethical manner to achieve the company’s objective. I have learned that accounting ethics directly affects the company’s revenues and it reduces the risk of frauds and other losses. Currently, it is high profile concern for organizations to control the corporate scandals and other extensive damages. I have found that ethics influences the accountants to act in professional behavior and keep transparency in the accounting environment. The companies have faced billion dollars loss due to lack of transparency. I have learned that organizations have created the ethical code of conduct to perform different activities in a certain manner. The codes cover ethical and technical rules that are developed to help the accountant to perform their jobs with integrity and competency. The company’s confidential information cannot be disclosed to non-employees such as suppliers, distributors, customers, and other parties.
