The 21st century era is also a mark of technological and advanced researches and experiments that benefit the nation’s population. Millions of people were overwhelmed of the significance that these technologies portrays on everyone’s lives. However, despite the success of our innovations and advancements with regards to the scientific aspect, our environment has been greatly affected. Up to date, the heightened climate change and global warming has really caused massive destruction of our environment on various parts of the world. One of these detrimental effects of global warming is massive forest wildfire on different locations, particularly on those places with frequent records for an increase in the environmental temperature for the past few years.
Forest wildfires are generally caused by very high temperature in the environment that results in burning of trees and grasses without any form of fuel or any fire-related products. Several cases of forest wildfires are very intense and massive because it can took several days, weeks or even months for the fire to be totally exterminated. One of the most recent cases of forest wildfires was recorded in the north of San Francisco, California last 2015, the Rocky Forest Wildfire. The Rocky Forest Wildfire has been regarded as one of the scariest wildfires that occurred in the United States in the year 2015. The Rocky wildfire has burned and consumed more or less a total of 43 homes, 69,600 acres of land, and threatened thousands of people in the whole northern coast of San Francisco. Seemingly, all of these detrimental results of forest wildfires are caused by heightened effects of global warming not only in California but also on various locations in the different parts of the world – all of which constitute a major drawback of the present status of our environment and the Earth’s ecosystem as a whole.
Forest wildfires are directly associated with various environmental tremors that inhibit the sustainability and preservation of our ecosystem. For instance, forest wildfires cause increased levels of particulate matters and ozone particulate components that could result to various human health hazards, particularly on human respiratory diseases. Smoke emission caused by massive burning of trees and grasses may result to air pollution and harmful health effects on humans as well as on wildlife species living in the forest. Furthermore, uncontrolled Rocky wildfire may also cause soil erosion for which the mineral and material soil structure shall be changed brought about by too much temperature on the ground. Even increased amount of surface water runoff may also lead to contaminated and suspended soil particles and dissolved inorganic minerals which result to reduced water quality scheme in the Californian state.
The only way to prevent, or at least to lessen the effects of these forest wildfires in various locations in the world is to stop climate change and global warming. It may be unimaginable, on everyone point of view, to completely eradicate global warming because of the present status of our ecosystem. We are very much aware of how pollution has damaged our environment, much the same way as how the present temperature of our ecosystem abruptly changed for several years. Forest wildfires generally occurred because of high surrounding temperature, and if it continues to increase for the next few years, more and more cases of forest wildfires will hit on different parts of the world as well. The only solution for such environmental impact is to stop global warming.
As of the moment, many studies have been conducted so as to lessen the effects of global warming in our ecosystem. There are several efforts from different parties all over the world with their purpose of preventing climate change. Several advocates and supporters against global warming have come together to provide ideas and efforts to reclaim what our environment has been lost for the past years. Just as Jeter (19) mentioned in his article, are we satisfied of having an ugly and obnoxious environment? No one deserves such life, not even wild animals does. We all deserves to live in equal chances and opportunities. We are all protectors of our own beloved environment.
