I learnt that motivation plays a key role in making people participate in various activities. Motivation refers to the desire of doing things (MT, 2016). The setting and attainment of goals rely on motivation as one of the key aspects that will lead to success. I also learnt that team membership acts as a motivator towards the achievement of a specific goal. Members of a team encourage each other and share responsibilities so that they can accomplish the task given to them.
My role in the team was to research the various ways that people can be motivated to achieve some set goals. My role involved checking out websites and reading materials on topics that concerned motivation. I successfully completed my tasks and presented the information I had collected on motivation. I also provided links to the websites I had used as well as references for the materials I had used to gather this information.
My team did very well in various areas. These areas include the collection of appropriate information on motivation; presenting our work within the set deadlines; and working together as a team. My overall analysis of the group enabled me to spot some opportunities for improvement. One of the areas that required improvement was the division of labor. Some members of the team were given easy tasks that did not utilize their full potential. Another area that requires improvement regards the allocation of duties according to someone’s area of expertise. Some group members were given responsibilities that did not suit them. As a team leader, I would address the division of labor by assigning tasks to the team members in such a manner that their full potential can be realized. I would also allocate duties to the team members according to their areas of expertise. As a team member, I would ask the team leader to assign me a task that meets my full potential and that is well suited to my area of specialization.
