Tecumseh, who was a Shawnee Indian political leader and also a war chief. He had taken part in a number of raids including Kentucky and Tennessee frontier settlements that were in the 1780s and had emerged a prominent leader by 1800. He had his group of young warriors and their families lived in the village on the White River in the East-central Indiana. He had a younger brother who had a number of visions which transformed him into a prominent religious figure in the Indian religions and making him a spiritual leader. He was referred to as The Open Door, although Tecumseh did not believe all this. This is where we are introduced to the Prophet hence, the title Tecumseh and the Prophet. But it reached a point where Tecumseh had to believe his younger brother when he prophesied of the eclipse and it happened.
The Tecumseh Confederacy was an attempt by Tecumseh to unite all the American Indians against the whites. The Confederacy believed that the American Indians should stop the dependency to the American goods such as alcohol and guns. This posed a big threat to the Americans and also the threat that the coming together of the American Indians would lead to giving them power which would threaten their stability. But this did not last because some of the American Indian communities failed to let go of the American ways hence the Confederation failed to remain together.
Tecumseh used his brother to bring together the American Indians closer by the use of religion hence both the two stood out as a major threat to the Americans. The prophets believe that the American Indians should stop depending on the Americans United the American Indians more. Jefferson's policy with the Native Americans was way much civilized when to compare to the way the Americans handled Tecumseh and the Prophet. Jefferson’s policy was to bind the Indians to the Americans by the use of treaties to avoid them from teaming up American rivals.
