Background Information
Purpose:
Companies that manufacture food products have specific legislation procedures and rules to follow. The rules and legislation help in ensuring that the organizations observe the health and safety measures for the sake of the workers and consumers (“Minimum” 33).
Overview of organization
Yeh! Frozen Yoghurt in Canada is one such company which also has health and safety measures which it is expected to follow diligently. Some of the health measures focus on the type of products manufactured for the consumers should be free of any harm. The measures also focus on ensuring that the employees work under healthy and safe conditions.
Audit Summary
An audit report confirmed that some of the rules and legislation procedures on health and safety were not being followed. The company has various aspects in which the health and safety measures work both for the consumers and employees. Yeh! Frozen Yogurt maintains the hygiene standards by ensuring the products are not contaminated. For example; maintaining the levels of temperatures in the refrigerator, labeling expiry dates on food containers and regularly cleaning machines.

Risk 1: Criticality: HIGH
The workers are exposed to various forms of harm while working in the organization. The use of the yogurt mixer, knives, and other tools may lead to accidents and harm to the employees. Knives are also used to cut the frozen product which makes it dangerous or the employee can cut their fingers.
Recommendation and corrective measures:
The machines and tools should be labeled with the instructions and damage prevention tags.
The employees should be trained in performing various tasks so that they can prevent the possibilities of accidents. The lack of skilled employees makes it difficult for them to handle some machinery used in the organization. The organization should provide training programs before employing the employees.
The organizations should invest in the provision of a cutting machine.
Only the trained employees should have access to the machine to prevent damage or injury from the cutting machine.
Risk 2: Criticality: HIGH
The floors which are mostly wet and slippery tiles may cause harm when the employees accidentally trip and fall.
Recommendations and corrective measures:
The organization should provide proper shoe wear that the workers can wear and avoid the chances of wet feet and slippery floors.
The use of non-slippery tiles for the floor reduces chances of slipping and falling.
Risk 3: Criticality: LOW
The bathroom’s location also appeared dangerously constructed in an unfinished basement with stairs that are bumpy and have no support rail.
Recommendation and corrective measures:
The reconstruction of a proper bathroom with efficient space and in a well-constructed location.
Risk 4: Criticality: CRITICAL
The other major cause of harm or injury for the employees is the hot machine maker which risks the lives of the employees by burning them with hot waffles. The temperatures of the hot water machines sometimes rise to 200 degrees Celsius.
Recommendation and corrective measures:
The use of thermos-gloves is one of the measures that can be taken to protect the employees from burning.
Summary:
Yeh! Frozen Yogurt does the utmost best to comply with the health and safety rules and legislations. However, the lack of formality in procedures that ensure compliance have led to the health and safety inspection results. However, Yeh! Frozen Yogurt has taken the necessary measures to ensure compliance with all health and safety requirements.
