Abstract
In this modern day digital era, the youth are synonymous with technology. Indeed, the youth and digital connection are conterminous. It is increasingly becoming impossible to delink the youth from technology or digital connection. It may well be stated that in most nations around the world coupled with the internet connectivity, the youth’s lives are significantly driven and occupied by the mainstream digital media. This argument will examine different aspects of evidence anchoring this position as availed by the engagement of the youth in various activities including but not limited to entertainment and education. At first, there is the increasingly inevitability of technology in virtually all spheres of life. Secondly, there is the availability of internet and digital devices at affordable prices which have the effect of easing the mode of communication. Similarly, digital devices such as cameras, smart phones, laptops, and iPad constitute the new forms of entertainment for the fun-loving youths. In summary, all these aspects are interlinked thus making the youths inseparable from digital technology .
I am confident that you will appreciate the level of digital connection among the youth and the significant role that digital technology or devices plays in their lives at this modern age from this presentation. Is there any bone in our midst who is a youth who has not had access to any digital device such as a smart phone, computer or camera? Certainly not! It just shows you where we are at, in this digital era. Indeed, it is unfathomable to imagine what life would be without these digital gadgets.
Slide Three: Digital Technology in Action
My fellow youths, you will agree with me that you cannot efficiently work or compete in this day without the aid of digital technology. We cannot refute the position that technology has married us and we have married into it. In fact, this presentation has been done with the aid of digital technology. Today, I shall be discussing about the increased interconnectedness of the youths with digital technology.
The digital revolution that has now peaked encompasses the use of digital devices which include computers, cell phones, digital cameras and camcorders among others. In addition, digital technology has made it possible for the scanning of manuscripts and their transcription into digital form, which can be accessed online or by use of an electronic device. And the youths are in it in full gear armed with an assortment of all these digital devices .

The young people have become too digitally connected owing to the attendant benefits of digital technology such as evident in; advertisement, education, commerce, entertainment, and communication
Slide Five: Advertisement and commerce
The youth use the digital platform to make advertisements for various things. This opportunity has been used not only by the young entrepreneurs but the aged are also slowly coming up. At the moment, businesses are making use of digital technology to sell their brands and conduct advertising. With technological advancements, social networking sites such as Twitter have emerged as the new forums for advertisement .
Slide Six: Education
The education sector has transformed significantly due to digital technology in the sense that teachers are able to communicate using the digital devices to illustrate concepts through use of computers and projector screens. Also, it has enabled online study by students who are far away from class as well as online lecturing by teachers .
You will agree with me that the course instructor gives us assignments by use of digital media and we similarly make use of the same.
Slide Seven: Entertainment and Communication
Digital connectivity has substantially changed the operation of interpersonal communications among persons. It has made it more the easier to keep track of friends and maintain relationships with them through cell phones and social networking sites irrespective of their location. The youth are now able to watch videos, games, YouTube videos, movies, sports and music suing these digital devices. Moreover, there has been tremendous increase in speed in communication as the new modes of communication brought about by digital technology such as emails; instant messaging systems and telephone enable one on one communication
Slide Eight: Negative effect of increased digital connectivity
There has been talk of digital dementia in relation to the increased use of digital technology among the youth. We have all heard of the good old adage that too much of everything is dangerous. I dare say that digital technology is no exception. The overuse of digital media or devices is harmful to the individual as it causes addiction and at times, laziness. It could have the effect of inhibiting critical and creative thinking. It also eliminates the much needed personal touch especially with the text messaging and social networking.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I have found that the youth are more digitally connected now than ever. The same connectivity has come with its benefits in several sectors of the economy such as education, commerce and advertisement, communication and entertainment. However, just like any good thing, it has its downside which includes the lack of personal touch and the possible addiction and laziness among its users who overindulge.
