Hormones mimicking chemicals in human beings
BisphenolA (BPA) is an estrogen-mimicking chemical which is found in plastic bottles, heat-activated register receipts aluminium can linings and dental sealants. It was reported in 2008 that the chemical has effects on behaviour, brain and prostate gland in children, infants and foetuses when one is exposed to it (New York Times).
The synthetic chemical bisphenol A, which is used in the linings of beer, soda and food cans, plus plastic water bottles, has been exposed as a hormone disrupter and linked to autism, cancer and other complications in the body. But it might be just the tip of the iceberg of toxic chemicals impacting us every day.
Also aztrazine is an endocrine disruptor which causes anomalous reproductive development and immune destruction. It is also linked to congenital abnormality of the nasal cavity. Aztrazine interfere with or mimic certain hormones blocking proper function and leading to confrontational outcome. Research carried in Texas which has the highest level of atrazine application are 80 percent likely give birth to children with choanal atresia comparing to countries with low level of the chemical. The chemical mimics human estrogen, blocking the reception of hormones, affecting the concentration of natural hormones.
Hormone disruptors dictates the acts of estrogen in the body, mimicking them throwing off the body’s hormonal equilibrium. BPA has an effect in the growth of the brain in the womb. From a study, it was noted that expectant women having a high level of BPA are probable to have offspring with symbols of hyperactivity, depression and anxiety.
Antibiotics are essential drugs that save live and restore peoples’ health, but they can have bad side effects which may result after treating thousands of patients. A good example is levofloxacin, ciprofloxacin and moxifloxacin which was widely used in United State for long but later thousands of patients suffered severe responses after using it. This has been found being caused by incorrectly prescriptions like instead of it being used against life-threatening bacterial contagion, it is used for treating diseases like bronchitis which might be treated with less strong drugs. From the publication in April in The Journal of American Medical Association showed that the users of fluoroquinolones had danger of suffering from blinding retinal and acute kidney failure than the nonusers. The antibiotic also affects the visual, musculoskeletal, and renal systems, central nervous system, hearing, heart and blood sugar metabolism
The adverse reaction is higher to children under 18, pregnant and those adult over 60 years old and also those patients with liver disease. To avoid this side effects, it is necessary to seek for assistance to know the drug , be aware with side effects, if there is any operative alternative and where to call in case of any unexpected occurs. Finally it is recommended to take full prescription as directed and the patient must not stop the treatment once he/she starts feeling better.
Cloning is done by removing the nucleus of an egg and substituted it with the nucleus from an embryonic stem cell animal.in an experiment carried in the frog, the cell nucleus was extracted with contained the DNA from a fully developed intestinal cell and inserted it into a frog’s egg. It was noted that the nucleus directed its genes of intestinal cell to those of an evolving egg.. It is further noted that embryonic stem cells can give rise to a whole organism in the absence of the nuclear transfer. This was proofed from the mouse embryonic stem giving evidence that abnormalities may exist in the cells before cloning procedures were carried out. Therefore embryonic stem cells work fine when used as a cell therapy, but produces abnormal organisms when used to make entire animal.
Blood doping is an illegal method of enhancing athletic performance by boosting the blood’s ability to transport extra oxygen to muscles. As a result it raises the volume of haemoglobin in the bloodstream. Once haemoglobin has been increased, a higher amount of oxygen is carried to reach and fuel the athlete’s muscles improving his/her performance and the stamina more so in running. There are three types of blood doping; blood transfusions, injection of erythroproietin (EPO) and vaccination of synthetic oxygen carriers
There are various ways in which the federal USDA and government regulate BPA. This is done by lowering the doses of BPA, working with National Toxicology Program to do much assessment of the chemical, encourages the move to more strong to oversight BPA, encouraging manufacturers to give food connection notice for the BPA encompassing materials, by assisting and encouraging the manufactures to use alternative chemical rather than using BPAand also encouraging the citizens halt buying polycarbonate. The FDA declared that baby bottles and drinking cups will no longer be containing BPA.
