Males may suffer from eating disorders and body image issues. Estimates show that more than 20% of patients with anorexia nervosa – a psychological disorder in which a patient thinks that he or she is too fat despite being emaciated – and bulimia nervosa – a disorder in which a person has alternative feelings of strong craving for food and aversion to food – are men.
