Introduction
Lumbini is a garden which is the birthplace of the Buddha known as Siddharta Gautama. Siddharta Gautama is the founder of Buddhism. He was born in the sixth or seventh century BC. This garden became a site of pilgrimage up until the 15th century. This site is only visited by a person of great devotion. In the year 246 BC, Emperor Ashoka, a Buddhist convert, visited Lumbini and ordered the creation of a stone pillar and four stupas.
