The present problem is that nutrition and hydration are not considered priority nursing interventions and are performed in a suboptimal manner as shown in many studies (Begum & Johnson 2010; Godfrey et al 2012; Ross et al. 2011). Food and feeding times are institutionalized and fail to consider the preferences of the patient and other needs that may be linked with dining.
