The Canadian government has recently taken steps towards what they deem will make Canadian citizenship valuable. In 2009, a law was passed limiting or restricting people in obtaining Canadian citizenship. Children born abroad on the date 17 April 2009 and after would only obtain Canadian citizenship if at least one of the parents was a Canadian citizen by birth or by naturalisation. Canadian parents are therefore limited in passing citizenship to children born abroad after one generation. These restrictions have raised concern over which state children born abroad fall into and the implications one has to think of when they choose ...
“House on Mango Street” is the first big novel written by Sandra Cisneros. The problem of Mexican-American (Chicano), described in the story, is deep in her own biography. Her family migrated from Mexico to the USA and she spent her childhood in the poor neighborhood.
The theme of Chicano identity as a nation is one of the central in the story. The Grapes of Wrath, a novel written by John Steinbeck, is acute reaction to the social and economic situation of America during the 1930's. Summer 1937 brought severe drought and dust bowls, which caused the greatest damage to the crops and made thousands of broken farmers leave their lands in order to survive. The novel offers the chance to stand in the shoes of poor and desperate families, whose fertile lands went barren and were taken away by the bank agents. The shock comes with understanding that the Government is indifferent to the lives of this people and they don’ ...
“Lord of the Flies” is a debut allegoric novel written in 1954 by a Nobel Prize-winning author William Golding. The novel intended to be an ironic commentary on “The Coral Island” by R.M. Ballantyne (1858) – an adventurous story for the young generation praising the optimistic imperial conception of the Victorian England.
The novel depicts the life of a group of children during the wartime on a deserted island, who survived a plane crash during evacuation from England. As a result of the elections Ralph has been chosen as the community leader. He strives to establish an upright and accurate way of life on the ...
I think the ones who leave Omelas go to far away cities and villages because they would not desire to be associated with the place where a child is imprisoned and made to suffer for the benefit of the community (Le Guin 115). It is possible that the neighboring cities are not filled with the kind of joy that is found in the Omelas. Even so, those exiting from Omela would rather stay in a place that is not as Utopia and delightful as Omelas as opposed to living happily at the expense of an unfortunate child. The Omelas is characterized ...

Real Life Application Observations
The basic law of Supply and Demand:
If the demand increases and the supply remain unchanged a shortage occurs, leading to higher prices. This is one of the most relevant laws of economics that can be applied to real life. Let us take an example of today’s real estate market. The real estate prices have increased almost five to six times over past twenty years. This is mostly due to the influx of more and more people into our cities. Who thought that there would be a day where we would actually buy water! Thanks to the ever-increasing population ...

What is more, the article reflects the significant problems of modern education. Although today’s education is of high value, it fails to develop students spiritually, to widen their horizons, as it is based mostly on technological studies. As a result, colleges train ...

Over the recent years, there has been consistent fluctuation of residential values in Atlanta GA. Many theories and the assumption have been put forward in trying to discover the cause and remedy of these fluctuations. Often the conclusion has been narrowed that most of the fluctuations are because of residential owner’s ability to influence the values of the properties due to prevailing economic factors (Florida, 2009). This project aims to take a different view by focusing on the effect of the commercial properties that exist on the value of the residential properties in the proximity. The study contributes to ...

For me, both women are tragic heroines because Claire ended her life by sudden death, and Irene destroyed her family life by introducing ...

During the 1600s, slavery was a concept that was strongly founded in the American nation. However, slavery was not a new concept globally during this period. Slavery as defined by Littel (2006) is the act of holding someone in bondage or a contract for labor.
Slavery had many forms in history. In some societies, slaves were domestic helpers in elite households. Some of these slaves worked at mines and fields. People back then were enslaved when they were caught in the midst of battle or sold to pay their debts. Some of these helps or slaves were treated with respect. Some ...

The written language is responsible for the transformation of the world. Through using words, there is action and reflection. Words bring meaning to the concept of living. Human beings exist in the world through using words. This is achieved through dialogue. Dialogue is essential as it allows humans to be substantial in their own right and as such exercise their freedom to associate with other individuals. Dialogue is not viewed as the dominion over others rather it is the liberation of humankind as it focuses on the truth and not oppression of individuals.

After my first engagement in yoga, I feel aches in my body joints and some slight headache. My heart was pumping first due to the vigorous exercise though I feel internally refreshed. Yoga not only relaxed my physical muscles but also my psychological well-being. For the first time after a long period, I was able to reflect on myself. I could feel blood move through my veins and even count my heartbeats in a minute. Despite the aching and some few muscle pulls and headache I suffered thereafter, I appreciated the internal relaxation than came with the practice of yoga.

In the argumentative essay “Should high-school students be looking for a relationship” the author argues that the students should be allowed to make their own choices, when it comes to their adolescent love life. One of the key methods to prevent such side effects, including possible health issues, is the parental participation in life of their child. ...
