1. The main theme of the book is the focus on the central idea that the personal character of a leader is above all positions or power. The book emphasizes that a leader must win its followers by its own virtue. He should be a role model, rather than a forceful person to lead his followers. Discrimination was evident in that the girl could not play with her brothers since they ...
The Birthright Lottery by Ayelet Shachar
The Canadian government has recently taken steps towards what they deem will make Canadian citizenship valuable. In 2009, a law was passed limiting or restricting people in obtaining Canadian citizenship. Children born abroad on the date 17 April 2009 and after would only obtain Canadian citizenship if at least one of the parents was a Canadian citizen by birth or by naturalisation. Canadian parents are therefore limited in passing citizenship to children born abroad after one generation. These restrictions have raised concern over which state children born abroad fall into and the implications one has to think of when they choose ...

The Chocolate War by Robert Cormier does not but tells us a story of a teenage boy, who dares to fight and withstand cruelty and humiliation at school, caused by the school gang, The Vigils. Jerry Renault, a freshman at Trinity High School, finds strength to give a dare to the established system at school, stirring up a rebellion against cruelty. This can be attributed to the fact that they contributed to the revolutionary war and thus were precious to the country. The levels of respect for the African ...

“Last Man” was inspired by Frederic Brown’s (1948) “Knock”, which Brown based on the three-sentence short-short story written by Thomas Bailey Aldrich and is about the last man on Earth following the Zan’s annihilation of living things in the planet. The “Last Man” follows Isaac as the last man on earth who refuses to forget about his family that was since long gone. Brown’s work was an inspiration because the plot narrative, although brief, offered an opportunity to create a different take of the story. Film, as a medium, works best in the project ...

The purpose of this experiment was to determine the speed of sound at room temperature using the microphone connected to a computer. Sound travels at a speed which is comparatively higher than the speed many objects. Consequently, the determination of speed of sound is technically challenging task. Most experiments rely on echo which is a reflection of sound to estimate this speed. The speed of sound at standard atmospheric pressure and temperature of 0º C is 331.5m/s. The experimental value of the speed of sound is expected to be less than the accepted value because low winter temperatures.

Oil Prices: Breaks and Trends
The paper organized by the author also has an in-depth relationship with other literature works on the subject of Oil Breaks and Price Trends. Firstly, it has used the Kejriwal and Perron’s sequential procedure to determine the multiple structure changes in real oil prices. However, the author avoided the circular testing problem. In fact, the Kejriwal and Peron model allows the repeated use and selection of a number of breaks in the trend and in the level of a univariate time series without any prior knowledge as to whether the noise component is stationary or not. Thus, the author, in ...

In both the developed and developing countries, a number of transactions are removed from the active economy and are do not involve any ...

Gravimetric analysis
Introduction
Gravimetric analysis is a method of measuring of mass of chemical substances. This analysis can be classified in two types; precipitation and volatilization (Bassett et al.). In precipitation method some steps, involved to determine quantify of the chemical substances, are separation of an ion in aqueous solution by a reaction, filtering and washing the precipitate, converting the precipitate to a substance of known composition, and lastlytaking weight of the precipitate as well asevaluating its mass. The chemical substance must be precipitated fully.Theunknown amount of original ion can be evaluated from the mass and known composition of the precipitate. Gravimetric method ...

Analysis of Hydrated Copper Sulphate
The above experiment was conducted to determine the amount of Copper and water present in the given sample of hydrated Copper (II) Sulphate.
Introduction
Gravimetric analysis used in this experiment refers to a set of techniques in analytical chemistry aimed at the quantitative determination of an analyte based on the mass of a given solid. In most gravimetric methods the analyte, in this case hydrated Copper Sulphate, is first converted to solid by precipitation with an appropriate reagent, Oxine in this case. The solid precipitate is then collected by filtration (precipitation). The lab scientist washes the precipitate since it is insoluble in ...

Beams are very crucial elements in engineering structures. They carry the loads and the weight of the structure and then transmit them to the supports . There are various types of beams configuration that engineers must select depending on the application. These include simply supported beams, cantilever beams and curved beam amongst others. Curved beams are very common in complex structures such as bridges, forklift hooks, crane hooks and in many other applications. Analysis of curved beams is complex compared to that of cantilever and simply supported beams. Thus, in order to enhance the structural integrity of the structure, engineers ...

The History of Cotton in America
Historically, the cotton production in the United States has experienced times of entrepreneurial developments from England’s cotton clothes and yarn.
