Cut Off Region of a Transistor
The transistor goes into the cutoff region when the base current (IB) is equal to zero. The collector leakage current ICEO under such conditions is quite low due to the effect of thermally-generated carriers. This means that ICEO can be neglected in the circuit analysis such that VCE will be equal to VCC. During the cutoff region, both the base-collector and the base emitter junctions are reverse biased. Subscript CEO means a representation of the collector to emitter with the base open. This is represented in the circuit below.
Saturation Region of a Transistor
Forward biasing of the base-emitter junction increases the base current. Consequently, ...
Objective of civic engagement: manifestation of democracy through the ballot
As a primary step towards my Project, I started with the topic of maximizing civic engagement related to the involvement of education and direct interaction with the electorate. The importance of the topic came from the fact that there has to be mass voting to ensure a clearer picture of the democratic choice. The electorate is a significant factor for not only deciding their governing representatives but also in shaping the public stand towards the formation of the right government. Hence, there has to be a vigilance or awareness drive for the voters of the region so that they ...

The dc circuit theories of Norton and Thevenin are investigated in this practical. The Thevenin theorem states that any network of resistors and sources (voltage and current) when viewed from any two points in a network can be replaced by an equivalent circuit of a single resistance (Thevenin Resistance) in series with a voltage source (Thevenin voltage). Similarly, Norton’s theorem is aimed at replacing the network of resistors and sources with an equivalent circuit of a constant current source in parallel with a resistance.

Olomoze is choosing between Argentina and Hungary to expand its operations and fanchises. Among other things, demand estimation was done by relationship analysis based on certain assumptions. Olomoze’s products are food items purchased and consumed by individual persons. So the estimation is done on the basis of the population of the countries considered.
Quantitative market research information are not available at this point which could provide an estimate of how much of a country’s population consume the products. Assumptions were thus made to get some comparative figures between the two countries.

The voltage drop across sections of a circuit and the current can be determined using Kirchoff’s laws. For currents and voltages, the algebraic sum at any node should be zero. Using this basic principle, any circuit can be analyzed for current and voltage. This paper will present and experiment performed to validate Kirchoff’s laws. According to Thevenin, a complex circuit can be simplified into an equivalent circuit to obtain voltage and current. By Superposition theorem, effect of sources in a circuit can be considered singly and then summed up. It was determined that the laws are true.

ABSTRACT
In the vibrating beam experiment, an aluminum cantilever beam was made to vibrate. An accelerometer transducer was used to convert the mechanical vibrations into a signal that was fed into an oscilloscope via a power supply. The oscilloscope mapped the signal into a sine curve and displayed it on the screen.
The oscillations’ decay curve was studied and the beam’s damping ratio was determined. The decay curve’s logarithmic decrement was used to determine the beam’s damping ratio and its natural frequency.
The beam’s damping ratio was observed to be underdamped at a damping ratio of 0.0066.

A resonant circuit which is in series consists of a capacitor, a resistor and an indicator connected in a loop. At some frequency the inductive and capacitive reactances magnitudes becomes equal and since they are opposite each other they effectively cancel each other. This makes the circuit to be purely resistive as it only ‘sees’ the resistor. Therefore at the resonance frequency the current becomes maximum. At any lower or higher frequency, the net difference between XC and XL should be summed with the value of the resistor; this produces higher impedance and ...

In the operation of a system, organization or machine, the extent of success lies in its ability to produce the highest possible results within a specified period of time (Boyer & Verman, 2009). This effectiveness focuses on the capacity which is the quality of work done in a defined period of time. This paper explores the differences between peak capacity and effective capacity in relation to production levels. It weighs the various strengths and weaknesses presented by each capacity. A case study of capacity cushions for airlines explores both concepts according to Sasaki (2008). It also expresses how the two capacities can complement ...

Thevenin and Norton Circuit Theory
Introduction
This experiment is aimed at putting to practice the Thevenin and Norton theories of dc resistor networks. These theories provide for techniques that make circuit analysis easier. In order to achieve this, a network of resistors connected to active sources is reduced to a single resistance which is connected in series with the voltage source. The single resistance is the Thevenin resistance of the network while the voltage source is the Thevenin voltage of the network. Norton’s Theorem also helps us simplify circuit analysis by replacing the ...

Patterns of Surface Ocean Currents
Surface currents are found in the upper four hundred meters of an ocean body and they form major patterns such as eddies, upwelling, and gyres (Garrishon, 2007). Surface currents result from wind energy that is concentrated in both north and south hemispheres forming trade winds which are easterlies and westerlies (Garrishon, 2007). Waves on the sea surface transfer some of the energy from the moving air to the water by friction. Pulling of wind on the surface of ocean causes an accumulation of water with the water displaced underneath the wind forming the movement.

Wind Physics Basics
Wind is atmospheric air which is in motion
Energy Source
The earth surface absorbs solar radiation differently. Some parts absorb more radiation than other. This creates pressure zones. As a result of pressure, air moves from high-pressure zones to low-pressure zones. This causes atmospheric air motion known as wind. Wind is a renewable source of energy. It is constantly available free of charge (Bhattacharyya, 2011).
Spatial scales
Atmospheric air motion can be categorized depending in terms of spatial scale. Four spatial scales identified include planetary scale, synoptic scale, mesoscale, and microscale. There are various types of spatial scales ...

Wet Sieve Analysis
Wet sieving analysis of soils is used to analyze particles that contain large amounts of silt and clay. The soil particles are washed to ensure that the fine-grained particles are separated from the coarse-grained ones. The extremely fine particles normally clump together and have difficulty in passing the # 200 sieve. In this experiment, the classification of soils is done in order to determine the percentage of soil particle that passes the # 200 sieve. Introduction
Torsion test is very important test to know the resistance of material of a material when it is subject to torsion. Resistance of torsion can be denoted by shear modulus which is derived from performing torsion test and creating a graph of angle of twist vs torsion. By measuring the slope of the graph shear modulus is evaluated. Another property of material, Young’s modulus, can also be determined from the value of shear modulus if value of Poisson’s ratio is known. In this lab experiment two metals were ...
