Introduction
Blood pressure refers to the force exerted by the blood on the walls of the artery. Measuring the blood pressure is done in mmHg or millimeters of mercury and is given by two numbers. The number on the top shows the maximum pressure that is exerted by the heart while beating also known as systolic pressure. The bottom number shows the quantity of pressure in the arteries between heartbeats also known as the diastolic pressure.
