Introduction
Covenant refers to a mutual agreement between two people that carries a pledge or promise for the future. One of the most important themes of Hebrew Bible is a covenant between the almighty God and His people or followers. In biblical interpretation, the word covenant contains more underlying meanings than a simple contract or agreement between two people. Derived from the Hebrew word ‘berith’, a covenant is "an agreement enacted between two parties in which one or both make promises under oath to perform or refrain from certain actions stipulated in advance" (Mendenhall and Herion 1 :1179).
