In 2012, FedEx Corporation paid a whopping $3 million to settle the charges of discrimination against 21, 635 job applicants 61% of whom were female, 52% African American, 14% Hispanic, 2% Asian and 1% Native American (Greenhouse, 2012). Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is a federal law prohibiting employment discrimination based on race, sex, color, religion and national origin.
