Beatty, Samuelson and Bredeson (2013: 252-235) identified seven elements for the creation of a valid contract between two principals: offer, acceptance, consideration, legality, capacity, consent, and writing. The offer must be of serious intent, reasonably definite, and communicated to the offeree (Ashcroft and Ashcroft, 1999: 57-58).
