The Holocaust, a Greek work, meaning 'killed by fire', refers to the systematic mass persecution and genocide of the Jews executed by the Nazi Party under the leadership of Adolf Hitler throughout Germany and German occupied territories across Europe. Jews were not the only victims of the holocaust, which claimed the lives of millions other including disabled people, gypsies, homosexuals and the war prisoners.
