After Global Agreement for Trade and Tariff came into existence in the 1990s, the overall supply chain process used in companies changed completely. Companies started sourcing raw materials and finished goods from thousands of miles away to gain cost advantage even though those were available nearby the point of consumption (Kannan and Sasikumar, 2009).
