Marijuana consumption has different effects upon different category people. There are various health risks associated with the use of this drug. Notably, marijuana has a fatal impact upon pregnant women and the unborn baby. Exogenous marijuana has a strong impact on the cannabinoid receptors. Consumption of exogenous marijuana during pregnancy raises the likelihood of anencephaly, decrease in the rate of fetal growth, decreased fetal movement, as well as possibilities of stillbirth. Social attitude to abortion is primarily defined by moral norms and traditions of society, living conditions. In recent decades, abortion has become one of the most intensely and diversely debated issues of the moral theory. Defenders of abortion rights and their opponents do not agree among themselves even in the terminology of the dispute. Opponents argue that the problem here is the following: whether or not the embryos should not be killed, like other human beings. Advocates believe the central question here is whether it is possible to force a woman to bear an unwanted fetus even at the cost ...

INTERGENERATIONAL NATURE OF CHILD MALTREATMENT
Introduction
Intergenerational child maltreatment has been a taboo topic in previous research on child abuse with very little research undertaken on the topic despite the gravity of the issue in modern society. Intergenerational child maltreatment will form the topic for this research study, with exploration of the forms of child abuse and to examine the patterns of child maltreatment and adaptive coping to the numerous forms of child abuse among survivors of the vice. The hypothesis for this research will therefore be: experiencing more types of abuse would determine the relation between ...

Diversity in the classroom is extremely important to the development of children, and continues to become more important in light of the changing demographics of the classroom today. Diversity and multicultural education provides children with the context that they need to function within an increasingly multicultural society today. It is also a way to deal with the changing demographics of the classroom; in America, classrooms now contain children from a variety of different cultural and ethnic backgrounds, and providing other children with the context needed to understand their differences and maneuver around any conflicts that are created as a ...

The research indicates that controlling type II diabetes in children is possible. School nurses employing the knowledge of physical exercises, dietary plans and emergency response can readily ...
A child being tried as an adult has become a topic that has elicited much debate over the recent years across the world. Many are for the view that children should be tried in juvenile courts due to the various risks they may face, while others cite the advantage that many children and youth take of juvenile courts as a reason as to why they should be tried as adults. Arguments raised have been on which option between the juvenile justice systems or children being tried as adults have been more effective with dealing with crimes committed by juvenile offenders. Child sexual abuse is an issue facing the society with many of the victims failing to report of such instances due to the fear of being seen lesser in the society. As a result, many of sexual abuse victims fail to disclose the issue or report it when it is too late to handle (Bolen 165). Many of the children feel confused, ashamed and fail to know the nature and extent of the act. Although it is difficult to understand whether a child was sexually abused, parents may understand this by observing the behaviours of their children (Winters 189). Some of ...
Sexual abuse is the action where pressure and coercion is used on an individual in order to engage in a sexual activity that they do not want to get involved. (Grubman- Blac 91). These activities may include among others oral sex, rape and even sodomy. Many of the people on the receiving end are women, but today statistics indicate that young boys and men are also on the receiving end just like the girl child. But in as much as the rape cases are on the rise, many rape cases for girls are reported each year as compared to boys. ...

Children with disabilities have a double task in the learning process compared to their mates. Sight words are important because they give children with disabilities the opportunity to learn through reading. Sight words are words that are put on flash cards. Children with disabilities can, therefore, be able to identify the words when presented with a collection of flash cards. It takes practice for the children to learn these words. Children need practice and master the words over a long period, which makes the process a tiresome one. Therefore, such children could greatly benefit with the help of technology in reading the flash ...

Whenever people are isolated from their peers in society, they experience a strong urge to prove themselves worthy of their inclusion. Extreme cases of social repression causes the victims (the disabled people) to get into desperation that leads to protests and activism. Such desperate measures, however, do not help the victims to qualify for inclusion in the social classes they target so they can feel normal (like everybody else seems to enjoy normality). For instance, most activities normal children participate in, may not be open to those with special needs. The frustration builds and causes not only bitterness and hatred but ...

The physical, emotional, and psychological well-being of the children living in Palestine is one for concern. The horrifying tales of waking up or going to sleep in the sounds of bombs and gunfire cause posttraumatic stress disorder on everyone, including children. The incursion of the Israeli military in Palestine since the 1940s has left the nation with limits to their freedom of movement, limits to fair and free education, verbal and physical assaults, and the undeniable possibility of a troubled future. Obesity is an energy balance disorder whereby the number of calories being consumed exceeds the number of calories being burned. In addition, it can be caused by parents feeding their children with too many calories, for instance, junk food, instead of a proper balanced diet. The excess calories in the child’s body are converted into fats, which accumulate in the child’s body leading to overweight and obesity. In order for one to become non-obese, it will take a few lifestyle changes, which produce a small daily calorie deficit. Preventing childhood obesity will require societal changes to help the modification of ...

Towards the end of the 19th century, the American childcare started to have formal and informal provisions for childcare. The provisions had close associations with the immigrants, the poor and the minorities who were stigmatized. This led to a weak foundation for the development of social services in the 20th century. Women reforms were at its peak in the progressive era and childcare became something that could bring modernizations and reforms. A group of women formed a nationwide organization that has its attention on pushing for childcare and rights of women. Reformers formulated solutions for poor mothers who worked outside their ...

How the cell phones are dangerous to the social community. On top of that, I will mention about the policies that elementary and middle schools have regarding the possession of cell phones by their students and pupils.
The argument comes in where cell phones have numerous advantages, but should they be allowed in school despite their policies? Parents are responsible for their children meaning they shape the morality that their ...

Festivals make part of the lives of people in different societies whether modern or traditional. They have been manifest in all societies from time immemorial, ingrained in their belief systems and ways of life. The participants vary depending on age, economic background, social background, academic achievements and professional achievements (for instance the professional position of a rain maker in the African societies). However, the main question is; what really makes these festivals unique and keeps people interested in them. This study tries to explore in reference to my own believes experiences ...

Overview
The interest of international law includes the improvement of the condition and welfare of orphans around the world. Moreover, religion also emphasized the importance of looking after the less fortunate children apart from the concerns expressed in the international treaties. In fact, the Quran mentioned about the orphans several times more than any other religious texts. The rationale behind it is that the older society encompasses a kind of injustice and oppression towards the vulnerable members of the society such as children, women and elderly. This is because of the mindset of the people in older society, which ...

Childhood obesity is actually a condition that is currently a severe public health concern. It is a situation where the excess body fats negatively affect the wellbeing or health of our children. This situation has some effects on health of a child and for that reason it is crucial for parents to take the necessary precautionary measures or else we will not have future generations. These effects include psychological or emotional effects and diseases like high blood pressure, cancer, diabetes, sleep problems, heart disease, and other disorders. For that reason, this paper centers on the research proposal for this problem.

Purpose of Statement
The purpose of this project is to determine the effect of physical activity, dietary patterns, and family/environmental factors on children with the overall outcome of obesity. The dependent variable childhood obesity is determined by independent variables physical activity, dietary patterns, and family/environmental factors. The most important independent variable in this relationship is physical activity, because the leading cause of childhood obesity is the lack of physical activity. Children are not getting the exercise that they need in order to burn the high-calorie foods that ...
Contemporary generation has been the recipient of vast technological applications including those which are offered in the area of entertainment, leisure and games. Despite the obvious magnanimity of the benefits gained from advances in these facets, there are those which have left an indelible mark in terms of the negative effects that impact on a specifically defined sector of the population. Video games, for instance, have been notorious for contributing to evident changes in behavior of children which are synonymous with the games being played (Anderson & Warburton, 2010; Sherry, 2001). One hereby contends that violent video games are significantly detrimental ...

Parents have always wished to control the behavior of their children without having to upset these young ones. This paper examines employing the reverse psychology technique as a best technique in controlling behavior in children. Children also have their desires, which they would wish to carry. Contrary to the expectations of the children, parents would at times use techniques to prevent them from executing the things they desire most. The paper examines the behavior of a three-year-old kid, who neither accepts the provided meal nor wishes to take his routine nighttime shower. However, after using the reverse psychology on this child, ...

In ancient Greece when someone committed a murder the weapon was destroyed because the Ancient Greeks believed that fate was decided by the gods so the murder was not as responsible for the crime as the weapon itself. Instrumentality when used in reference to weapons is the hypothesis that the increased availability of weapons in a certain area also increases that areas likelihood of weapon based offences. Essentially the increased availability of guns increases the chances that a criminal will choose a gun as their weapon of choice for committing crimes, not to mention this also increases the range of crimes this criminal ...

In a stricter sense, bilingualism implies the ability to speak two languages though multilingual speakers, i.e. those who speak and understand more than two languages are often referred to as bilinguals. In recent years especially due to the world reaching the pinnacle of globalization where there is virtual interconnectedness of one end to the other, bilingualism has become more of a norm rather than an exception. Childhood vaccination is a subject that has been in the news and hotly debated over the past years in mass media and science journals, especially whether or not they are safe for children. Proponents of vaccination argue that vaccines are responsible for the health, safety, and lower mortality rates for children globally. They believe that any benefits vaccines provide far outweigh the possible risks. People who are against vaccines include celebrities such as Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey, Dr. Andrew Wakefield and others who believe that vaccines are responsible for autism, do not really prevent diseases, expose children to toxins ...

An Investigation of the Problems Encountered by Child Protection Services Agencies
Introduction
Child abuse and neglect is one of the prevalent problems that the children of our society suffer today, with about 2,400 children being victimized on a daily basis (Whitaker, Reich & Reid, et al., 2004). They experience physical and emotional abuse from both their families and the other people around them – neighbors, friends, or even strangers. With the growing number of incidents of child abuse and neglect, it becomes ever more important to determine ways to reduce its occurrence, if not completely eradicate it.
In this regard, child services protection (CPS) agencies are one of the first groups ...

Family literacy is a program that aims at elevating the language and literacy skills of parents and their children through parent and child learning, and the acknowledgement of parent’s responsibility in the development of their children’s literacy and language development. I agree with Darling’s argument that family literacy is relevant for families since studies reveal that individuals with high literacy levels have higher chances of getting employment, to work more, and earn more than individual with lower qualifications, and would like to investigate this claim (18). Hence, my topic will be Relevance of Family Literacy.

Mainstreaming is described as the process of integrating disabled children in the normal education program. This entails presenting special needs children in the normal school curriculum apart from their special education program (Jones, 200). This consists of putting the special needs students in a regular class with the rest of normal students and making sure that they interact with the normal students. In the past ages, physically and mentally handicapped children were shunned away by the society. Most of them did not even attend schools and on often occasion, some were closed in hidden places the rest of their lives. ...
IS CHILD OBESITY A REFLECTION ON PARENTHOOD
Child obesity is rising around the world. Obesity is being observed at a younger age of children than in the past. There are many factors that have led to this trend. This paper seeks to examine one of these factors; parents’ connection to child obesity. It seeks to establish whether there is a substantive relationship and if it is there, to what extent does it cause obesity in children. The paper uses various data collection methods and analysis techniques to cover the issue.

Childhood obesity.
More than one-third of children and adolescents are overweight or obese.
Overweight and obesity can be simply defined as the intake of too many calories and not
enough activity to burn off those calories resulting in a weight gain of unhealthy
proportions. The effects of child and adolescent obesity have negative impacts, both
immediate and long term. One of the negative effects is diabetes, which is preventable
through a healthy lifestyle to include good eating habits and regular physical activity.

IS PARENTAL INFLUENCE A REFLECTION ON CHILD OBESITY?
Obesity has been increasing at an alarming rate, especially in the developed world. Obesity statistics have been rising to reach extremely high proportions. With this increase, diseases and other conditions associated with obesity have also been on the rise. The most affected demography is the young adults group. Obesity, however, has been seen to start from earlier in the lives of the people involved (Smith, 1999, p. 64). Part of the cause or facilitators for this increase in obesity is the parents, or so it has been suggested by various studies. What is certain, however, from many studies is ...

Having children is one of this life’s greatest blessings especially if a couple decides on creating a family of their own. Most parents absolutely adore their children more than they adore themselves, and they would do anything to keep their health safe and fit. Parents would then do their very best to provide them with the best education, home, food, and a life filled with love and care. Some would even go great lengths to try providing their children with the best food to eat as this is connected to one’s health. If the food given to children is ...

Henrik Ibsen was a 19th century Norwegian playwright who is considered to be one of the pioneers of Modernist theater, inserting some of the more harsh realities of family life into his works. After a grueling childhood that involved a depressive father, an oppressively religious mother, and an extremely poor family in general, he picked up writing, beginning to write his own plays and work at the Det norske Theater in Bergen. His real masterpieces came after his move to Germany, where he wrote the 1873 play Emperor and Galilean and A Doll’s House. He wrote realistic, contemporary dramas with a tragic ...
