Introduction of the OSH Act
OSH Act was proposed due to the accidents that were being experienced in the industries. The industry- specific safety statutes were still being enacted at the period. Most of these statutes protected employees under the federal agency contractors, and those that dealt with maintenance. The health and safety issues were also limited to a number of unions that represented workers that were in hazardous industries.
