1. The concept of the self, according to Mead, can be compared to that of a child playing games. The child who likes to play games will make rules for himself, these rules are made in order to please him and be in his favor (Mead, 1934). Whether or not he follows these rules is entirely up to him, and how others perceive the given rules is up to them.
