Introduction
After a drug is developed, it is widely tested in the lab for efficacy and safety before it is tested on humans. Clinical trials are conducted using human subjects in five phases before the drug is approved. A drug may be approved for use and then adverse side effects are found during post marketing study in which case it is withdrawn from the market.
