Introduction
Currently the distribution of tigers extends from the Pacific coast of Russia to West and Southern India, continuing East into the Malayan Peninsula and Sumatra. They inhabit a wide range of habitats from impenetrable tropical forest of Sumatra to the semi-arid tracts of Western India and the human dominated agricultural landscapes of the Gangetic Plains of India.
