It is no secret that there are many short stories and novels written about certain periods of the humankind development. All the works have something in common (for example, they all describe an epoch or only several years – some period of time). However, they are different. This essay is aimed at showing the differences and similarities of two essays that I have read. The first short story was written by Gilbert Highet, and the second story was written by Bruce Catton.
