Question/Problem Definition
Equal pay is one of the most pertinent issues in labor laws and regulation. Most governments across the globe have institutionalized legislation that aim to safeguard their citizens and ensure that they are well compensated for their talents regardless of their origin, race, gender and other distinguishing characteristics. However, this is not usually the case. In spite of having such laws, the labor market especially the private sector is far from realizing and implementing equal pay. The state is even worse in developing countries where most women employees do not earn even half as much as their male counterparts ...

The three most controversial aspects of this system today are Search and Seizure, arrest, and interrogations. While these three aspects are the foundation of police action throughout the nation, there are several unresolved problems in how each of these processes is in use today. The presence of the law is not always the same as upholding it. The cases which made the case for the citizens are moving into obscurity with modern variations of the problems making ...

Goel, Reema et al. 2015. Highly Reactive Free Radicals in Electronic Cigarette Aerosols. Chemical Research in Toxicology 28:9 (1675-1677). In this reported scientific study, a group of researchers from the Pennsylvania State University investigated whether the aerosol produced by an e-cigarette contains reactive, short-lived free radicals. Initially, the researchers proposed that the e-cigarette vapor may contain high concentrations of free radicals, presumably from the presence of high concentrations of free radicals from conventional cigarette smoke. It must be pointed out that reactive, short-lived free radicals, such as reactive oxygen species and reactive nitrogen species, are potentially toxic to organisms, ...

Jordan Ferris in the article titled “Unsafe staffing events and their effect on nursing fatigue and stress levels” explores occupational stress and the implications it has on the employees. When this occurs, it is up to the teacher to determine if the child is acting out or has a learning or behavioral problem. A teacher who is concerned may try and help the student by offering a learning plan to better assist the student. If the teacher’s learning program had not been helpful for the child, another measure may need to be taken. The child may need to be evaluated for an assessment to ...

The limits of what music is have long been contested. Terry Riley’s “You’re No Good” and Steve Reich’s “Come Out” are great examples of this. Basically, they both attempt to examine the repetition of the same exact bit of music once and again. Even though this had been attempted before in forms such as cannons and the whole play in the form of motifs, for example, their use of technology allows them to be even more exhaustive in their presentations. For instance, they both have a significant portion of the piece of music be a direct ...

Slang is a language that use informal phrases and word either in writing or speaking (Bucher & Schorling, 2002). Moreover, according to Olstad, Raine, & McCargar (2012), recreation and leisure are essential components of a healthy lifestyle. Most of the employees at the workplace suffer from obesity and overweight. In ...

Compare Views: Obligations of the Citizen
In his ‘letter from Birmingham Jail”, Martin Luther King wrote to eight white clergymen, addressing their disapproval over his nonviolent protests against racial inequality. Martin Luther King answered the charges of him being an outsider, by claiming that anything that happened anywhere in the United States affected everyone else, and that no one was an ‘outsider in the United States. King further addresses the clergymen’s opposition to the black demonstrations. King’s central idea regarding the obligations of the citizen is that it is the duty of the citizen to oppose all ...

Work environments affect individuals physically, psychologically, spiritually and/or emotionally. These stresses are caused by factors such as constant exposure to pain and suffering of patients, failed attempts at alleviation of suffering, patients’ family. There are three concepts associated with the consequences of caring work; compassion fatigue, burnout and vicarious traumatization. Compassion ...

In our day to day life, it is easy to see individuals who have found ways to cheat the system, and claim social welfare sources that are above and beyond that which they are entitled to, or who find ways to misappropriate the funds that they are given, and we are incensed by the waste of public dollars. However, in contrast we rarely get to see the results of corporate welfare, provided through government subsidies, or how the use of those funds are abused. In reality, though public disgust of corporate subsidies is far less prominent, they cost tax ...

Arrhenius defines an acid as a substance that made up of hydrogen that when dissolved in water breaks apart increasing the concentration of hydrogen ions (H+) in the water. Bronsted-Lowry defines an acid as a proton (H+ ion) donor. Lewis describes acids as substances that accept electron pairs. Acids have a sour taste and are highly reactive with metals (Brent, 2009). Nitric acid is used as fertilizers, and hydrochloric acid is used to bricks.

Szymanski (2002) argues that football has significantly improved the economic standards of the countries who host the world cup and also those with the major leagues. “Loving someone is different from being “in love” with them.” It is true that loving someone is different from being “in love” with them. Some people think that the two mean the similar thing, but this is not the case. As a matter of fact, there are some differences between loving someone and being “in love” with them. First of all, when we love an individual we need him/her to be around us most of the time. In other words, we usually want to be with the people we love more than anything else, and we can do anything ...

The lecture, conducted by Dr. Dolapo Adeniji-Neil at the Adelphi University, gives us an insight into the problems experienced by internally displaced people in the contemporary world. The lecture material does not remind an excerpt from the history book about the events unfolding in a certain country, but makes the audience develop a sympathetic and respectful attitude to people who suffer from the situations that do not depend on them. Being internally displaced herself, the lecturer engages the audience into the topic with the help of real life stories that sound truly terrifying for people who do not face ...

The compensation is a reward for an entity (individual or corporation) in return for a work performed or services rendered. The amount of compensation and payment are provided either by simple uses or through contractual arrangements (freely negotiated between parties or resulting from collective agreements or company agreement) (Perryman et.al, 2016). The compensation is directly linked to the amount of effort and performance that has been delivered and it also has nothing to do with gender. However, it is usually influenced by the gender, which has consequentially become a social dilemma. Gender and compensation are taken into the context ...

Francis Scott Fitzgerald characterized his main character as “great”, yet the author managed to insert several meanings into this notion. Gatsby is overwhelmed with money, luxury, parties, but this emphasis on the material things emphasizes another issue in the novel. It is possible to claim that Fitzgerald makes the main hero to disguise himself behind the trumpery of ongoing parties and mysterious reputation. The main purpose of Gatsby seems to be rather controversial, as he is clearly avoids fulfilling his mission to win his love (Matterson 5). It is difficult to find that notorious greatness in the character’s ...

The two ideas are combined subconsciously to ascertain the montage theory. The theme of conflict is used for the conveyance of images to provide ...
Elimination of Subsidies for all Energy Alternatives
I agree with the proposal to eliminate government subsidies for all energy alternatives so that all energy providers can compete in a free market economy. My rationale for agreeing with this proposal is that providing subsidies is a retrogressive economic policy that allows the government to prop one sector of the energy industry at the expense of other sectors. Rather than foster competition, government subsidies will give alternative energy investors unfair price advantages over other energy providers. Moreover, subsidies will cause the alternative energy sector to become less cost competitive and encourage unhealthy dependency on preferential treatment from the ...
