Introduction
This case study reviews the loss of Flight TWA 800 a Boeing 747-131, (“Accident Overview”, n.d.), that on 17 July 1996 exploded in midair shortly after takeoff from JFK airport New York on a Paris-bound flight, and resulting in the deaths of all 230 on board. The case study looks at the accident causes, structural and mechanical factors involved, contributory factors, and the Investigation Board findings.
