A Literary Analysis
Ernest Hemingway’s short story “Hills Like White Elephants” takes place at a train station in Spain on a very hot summer day. The two main characters, the American and Jig, the girl, are travelling by train because the girl is going to get an operation. They are waiting for the next train that will take them to Madrid, the location of the operation, and they have forty minutes waiting until it gets there.
