(Students’ Name) Numerous theories have tried to explain how the ancient Egyptians built the Giza Pyramids. Most of these theories revolve around the use of sophisticated human developed building techniques that have been traced back to the Egyptian culture by the archaeologists. The first theory is characterized by the belief by most archaeologists that these ancient inhabitants of Egypt had developed ramps that were strong enough to ensure mobility of the building materials and the human resource. The theory was conceived by Engelbach in his architectural research in 1930. According to (Clarke and Engelbach, 1930), the most common one ...

I think discarding something as uninteresting or not useful means hindering yourself in terms of learning new things; I have my reservations about documentaries that try to engage the viewer by playing cards like human vanity and ego, disasters and grand statements, such as ‘the most impenetrable fortress’; but I still think that everywhere we look we can find useful knowledge. As the name suggests, the documentary is about the civilization of ancient Egypt and their engineering accomplishments that became landmarks in ancient architecture and significantly contributed to ancient Egypt’s grandeur image as an empire. Historians featured in ...
Part 1.
Ancient civilizations are famous for their innovations and fast technology development, specifically, when talking about the Ancient Egypt and Rome. The base line of my dissertation concerns the required innovations in the financial industry, thus in this paper I will refer to the innovative management approaches in the Ancient Egypt. However, prior to analyzing their methods and approaches it is important to take into account the fact that religion was dominant over civil authorities in the Ancient times. Therefore, most of their laws and management decisions were also based on the religious norms or dictated by the priests. “The ...
Pseudoscience is a belief or the process that attempts to trap the ideas, methodology and techniques from science, but it is not able to achieve them on its terms. On a wider note, the pursuits of the knowledge about in Pseudoscience involve considerable elements of guesswork, intuitions, and the experiments which do not adequately test the theory. Further, in pseudoscience, the results may be incorrectly interpreted or sometimes entirely wrong. The movie “The Chariots of the Gods” by Erich von Daniken uses considerable descriptions and the pseudoscience to the support the thematic ideas as depicted. Von Daniken describes being ...
I would like to describe my experience of working in international youth organization AIESEC as an example of a relationships pattern, communication on different levels, and facing diversity. In this organization I obtained a position of a Team Leader of Incoming Educational Project, which involved a participation of international interns which were to give foreign language lessons to students. Therefore, I was in charge of the Organizational Project Team, which consisted of six team members, as well as responsible for the 15 interns coming during the realization stage of the project. It meant that I was on the level ...
The history of African people has been plagued by constant oppression and unethical appropriation. Although it is a land that has substantial talent, its people have perpetually been denigrated and abused. Even though there are a lot of people that believe that Africans are less than others, most of Western culture is profoundly indebted to Africa, especially due to the intellectual theft that the Greeks committed upon them. Greek culture and philosophy is one of the main influences of Western civilization. Many people believe that they were the founders of many of the rational achievements that modern society has ...
Introduction
The civilization that took place in Ancient Egypt is widely known for its great achievements in various fields such as statecraft, engineering, architecture, and medicine. The large and marvelous buildings found along the banks of the Nile River still leave people at awe despite their old age. The civilization of the region is partly attributed to the unification of the Egyptians under one ruler in different sections of the Nile Valley. Empire building gave the ancient individuals a sense of stability and organization that allowed them to focus on civilized practices and behaviors. The ancient Egyptians emerged as one ...
Introduction
On most occasions, historians construct world history according to the emergence of civilizations associated with a particular empire. Egypt is one of the rich areas studied by the scholars to understand how ideas and people came together to formulate civilizations and empires. Imagine a region that is sparsely populated but still fertile and watered by several water sources. Individuals settle in the region and proceed to domesticate the animals and plants. The process of domestication is made possible by migration and riverine territories. As the population rises, so do the needs of the people. The requirements introduce political and ...

Q1: Comparison of Ancient Greek and Egyptian Architectural Designs
There are great similarities in the ancient architectural designs of pyramids in the Egyptians Old Kingdom and the Greek temples of Acropolis that were constructed within the age of the Pericles. The ancient Egyptian and Greek Civilizations are home to some of the oldest architectural structures and designs in history* . However, the evolution of architectural designs in these two civilizations has had different and similar aspects, and is also thought to have taken place within the periods of 1150 BC to 146 BC. In addition, the two civilizations existed in different geographical conditions, implying that the architects in these ...
Healthcare plays a critical role in determining the socio-economic wellbeing of a country. Environmental, individual, community, and personal health have been identified as a critical determinant of productivity in a society. Access to and quality of treatment as well as treatment outcomes are affected by various factors, among them, community, family, and personal attitudes to healthcare. Personal principles, cultural practices, religious beliefs, as well as health literacy levels influence attitudes (Helman, 2007). Social, cultural, economic, religious, and health literacy levels significantly influence perceptions about healthcare in Egypt. Social stratifications along ethnicity and family ties in Egypt have made personal ...
There are some who question the ethics, or even the necessity, of creating a contractual relationship between the government and the governed. The bottom line, though, is that there has always been a contractual relationship – but the terms have been determined by those at the very top. The ancient Egyptians were ruled by the pharaohs who had an extensive military establishment, but the number of battles that the Egyptians fought with external foes was fairly small (and often disastrous for the Egyptians). Instead, the military establishment existed to control the Egyptian population, protecting the ruling class rather than the ...
After analyzing the monuments of art, handed down to us from a distant era of the ancient Egyptian civilization, we can definitely identify the two main themes in the art of Egypt in the period around the IV millennium BC to 332 BCE. This is the theme of power and the theme of death. The power of the Pharaoh over the borders of Egypt, the Egyptian state supremacy over the neighboring tribes and kingdoms became firmly established. The question was how to combine it with the death, which is the worst thing that awaits man? It is not possible ...
Egypt uprising of 2011 occurred after collaborative efforts from various interested groups. The elites and non-elites participated at different scales and levels. The Egyptians had tolerated poverty, political oppression, and corruption for decades. As a result, human rights and labor activists alongside NGOs begun protesting the government. During 2010, just before elections, the Muslim Brotherhood, a group of youths that defied the government and Mohammed ElBaradei’s campaign for reforms got a national attention especially when the Mubarak attempted to install his son Gamal as heir. The government machinations suppressed most of the activist. Police killed Khaled Said triggering ...
At no time up to the present days, the issue of ‘Woe from Wit’ took place among too educated and intelligent people. The masterpiece ‘Woe of Wit’ written by Griboedov in 1822-1824 and published in 1825 stated the case when too clever people lost the interest in their ordinary life and started interfering with the political and historical issues. The matter of African studies was not an exception. Reading the topic of the first chapter of the book ‘Introduction to African studies’ if we look through the list of names of those who did a research upon the matter ...
Question. 22. a. A population pyramid is a representation of the population breakdown in terms of age and gender at a particular point in time. Population pyramid represents how many males and females are there in different age groups in the population. The numbers by age and by gender depend on the interactions between migrations, mortality, and fertility. Above all, the pyramid shape and its variations depend on the variations in the fertility. Population pyramids help in understanding several aspects of the population, such as the history of a particular group in the population, and project the future of ...
the history of art as a contest between seeing and knowing
Is seeing a straightforward activity?
Using the example of Egyptian art, that was made for special audience who knows how to read it, as ‘we cannot really know what this art looked like to the audience it was made for’ (Bagley 176). The process of seeing is directly connected to the object under consideration as well as the person who is performing it, that is why the activity is way more complex than it seems. The seeing of writing, which we often call «reading», is very distinct from the seeing of picture or ...
Evolution from Hunting and Gathering to an Agricultural Society
The Neolithic Revolution is also known as the Neolithic Demographic Transition. Data indicate that this began about 12,500 years ago. People formed communities and they developed settlements as they began to domesticate certain species of plants (Tignor, 23). This “revolution” occurred in several places around the world. The earliest revolution occurred in the Fertile Crescent area of Mesopotamia between 10,000 to 8,000 BC, in the Kuk Early Agricultural Site of Melanesia at about 8000 BC, and in Subsaharan Africa at about 2500 BC. One theory that is used to explain this phenomenon is that agriculture was ...
The issue of prolonged life has been debated for centuries. In fact, Ponce de Leon spent his life’s work looking for the Fountain of Youth all over the globe. The century long limit of human life has essentially created the fantasy of those who wanted to live longer. This curiosity of these individuals has led to the fantasy of seeing history when it transpired rather than reading it in a book. For this reason, many television shows and books have explored the possibility of a human living beyond their one-hundred-year timeframe. For example, vampires, warlocks, and the like ...

The Technical Approach to Art History
The art historian, Henri Focillon made a statement concerning the reason for having technical knowledge to establish the place in history for objects and other art works. In his discussions, he asserted that the reason for this is that it assists with the control of ones own objectivity. This would lead to a universal “observation of technical phenomena” that presents “the same terms, and the same point of view, as it is presented to the artist.” The art historian needs to have technical knowledge in order for him, or her, to correctly establish a chronology, in ...
Introduction
The Minoan Civilization was the forerunner of the ancient Greek culture which emerged from the island of Crete. The island of Crete was isolated from the rest of the Greek mainland by the Sea of Crete to the north and by the Mediterranean Sea to the west. The island with its mountainous rugged terrain and white sand coastal areas proved to be a great spot for international affairs and trade routes especially for the European, Africa, and Asia Minor merchants. Because of its isolated landscape, many scholars have proposed the existence of cultural interactions between Cretan civilization and those ...
In describing art, comparing one art to the other has a significant role to the person reading it. This paper will discuss the role played by comparing one object to the other depending on the main theme of the objects. When we write a stand-alone description of a single object, it is important to bring out its relationship to other objects. This technique ensures that an observer relates one art to another so as to understand its meaning. In my perspective, making implicit comparisons of an object with other objects may sometimes play a major role on viewers since ...
Kuwait, as a nation, has faced a number of successive revolutions, all led by the country’s youth. Despite its immense oil wealth, as the third greatest producing member of OPEC, Kuwait is small country. It has a total population of just 1.2 million people, and as a result is often overlooked on the diplomatic level. Moreover, it has a fragmented and complex political structure that can be challenging for outsiders to understand. So, Kuwait stayed largely out of the media, and international affairs, since it was released from Iraqi occupation in 1991, by Western armed forces. At that ...
Egypt is a North African country with a high population of the Arabs. The main religion of the country is Islam though there are also Christians and other religious groups sparsely spread all over the country. Social inequality in Egypt is one of the worst in the region. As a bigger population of the country struggle to live below a dollar, the cities keep on rising with skyscrapers. The poor-rich gap keeps on widening. Apart from the evident distinct gap between the poor and the rich, gender inequality is on the rise. Women have gained a little recognition in ...
Where was Atlantis located? When did it exist, and how did it come to an end, according to Donnelly? What is the main historical source for Atlantis? Atlantis was a large island that was located in the Atlantic Ocean opposite the mouth of the Mediterranean Sea. The Atlantis existed 9,000 years before Plato’s time and it came to an end during a terrible flooding of the island caused by shifts in ocean water and eventually the whole Island with all its inhabitants submerged into the Atlantic Ocean outside the Pillars of Hercules. Only a few of the ...

Introduction
The world we live in today has not always been what it is but has been built to what it is today. While little is known of the Western world, specifically the Americas before explorers such as Christopher Columbus discovered it, there exists rich literature of ancient civilizations that have shaped all spheres of modern life. The most recognized civilizations include the Egyptian civilization, the Roman Empire, and the Greek civilization. The fall of one civilization led to the rise of another civilization and so forth. The earliest recorded civilization, however, is the Egyptian civilization and scholars have credited ...
Introduction and Thesis
A reflection on various countries all around the world depicts the persistent emergence of revolts against the ruling government (s). In the year 2011, the world woke up to the news that a major revolution was developing in Egypt. Often connoted as the “Arab Spring,” the revolution was characterized by the polarization of the Egyptians who had developed a negative notion against the government. The Egyptians perceived their government as corrupt, tyrannical, and oppressive. As a result, a significant portion of the Egyptians occupied the Tahrir Square in Cairo protesting against the ruling regime. In the beginning, only thousands ...
Abstract
The Middle East has been in the center of international attention for the past couple of years as the region has been embroiled in several conflicts that reshaped the region’s status quo. While a majority of the conflicts reported in the Middle East are caused by armed factions, some of these conflicts were brought by various social movements intending on forcing change to the country. Some of these social movements are brought in by the public themselves; hoping to pressure the government to impose reform. Some of these social movements sometimes meet failures, but there are those which ...

Describe the development of depicting the human form from Paleolithic art through the arts of Ancient near-East, Ancient Egypt, the Aegean and Greek cultures. Think about how humans are represented and what functions representation of humans have served. Is there in fact a clear “development”? Ancient art has enormous information potential and can be a source of new knowledge about the ancient man and his world. The art of those periods reflect the first representations of the person about the world because each individual culture had its own epicenter that determined not only the spiritual and social life, ...
When considering culture, one does not typically think of law. However, if one thinks hard, they can see how law is in the background of many discussions of culture. This creates a very complex question within both modern and ancient society as to what the line has been or is between law and culture and whether law defines culture or culture defines law? This question is surely one that cannot be easily answered throughout the ages due to the aspects of both law culture that tend to go hand in hand and play off of each other. In fact, ...
Hymn to the Nile explores the status that river Nile had before the people of Egypt as their lives depended on it. These people even referred to the river as god and even made sacrifices to appease this god. More importantly, the hymn appreciates that it’s the importance and benefits that the Nile brought to the people of Egypt that made them hold the river so close to their hearts that they referred to it as god. Looking at the hymn to the Nile, human beings should take care of the environment just as the environment takes care ...

Al-Nasir, who was a major in the army, led the Egyptian military revolution in 1952. Many people thought that the revolution resulted from the soldiers’ experiences in the Palestinian War and the disputed Army Officers Club elections (Islamfiche Project75). According to Nasir, the makings of the revolutions began when he was still a student. His philosophy stemmed from the need to liberate Egypt from the hands of the imperialist government. Nasir believed in an independent Egypt where self-governance and democracy thrived. In his opinion, the revolution was the harvest that the Egyptians had cultivated for a long time. Since ...
Facts Disputing Von Daniken’s Theory on Egypt
Erich von Daniken tries to support his theory that Earth was visited by ancient extraterrestrial beings using the early Egyptian civilization. Von Daniken claims that the Egyptian civilization rose suddenly out of nowhere as a fully formed, technological advanced society (Von Daniken, n.d). Von Daniken’s claims are not valid because the Egyptian civilization is well documented showing how they learnt and built from their mistakes. Egyptian ingenuity began in 3000 B.C when they built the world’s first dam. The dam was 50 feet high and its construction was overseen by Egypt’s first Pharaoh, Menes, who had ...

It was discovered in Thebes and is made of the block of grained anorthosite gneiss from Nubian quarries 1. Modern historical science divides Egyptian dynasties as the Old Kingdom, the New Kingdom and the Late Period that are separated by Intermediate Periods. Senusret III is one of the best-demonstrated kings of ...
Multi-party System in Egypt
Introduction A discussion on party systems is based on the distinctions that exist between dominant one-party, two-party, and multiparty systems. Party families such as socialist, Christian democrat, agrarian, liberal, conservative, regional and ethnic parties, and other new parties characterize democracies of the world (Deth and Newton 276). Party systems have similar features as party families because they are based on the social and economic structure of society. Party systems such as two-part system, multi-party system, dominant one-party system exist as part of party families (Deth and Newton 276). Multi-party systems are evident in countries where governance is based on ...

2B. Introduction Egypt is one of the few countries in the world that is mentioned in the Scriptures several times. There Moses the prophet was born and bred. Moreover, to there, after the birth of the promised Messiah, Jesus fled from Herod's persecution. There labored the early Christian hermits, who became the founders of monasticism. Today, this ancient country is in a difficult political environment, compounded by the religious factor that causes instability in the whole region. Throughout history Egypt saw many religions becoming a national policy, however, never before has one religion overpowered others and was as superior ...

Ancient Egyptian legal system is considered one of the oldest known in the human civilization. Although were few Ancient Egyptian sources of law remained preserved until this day, we can still recreate a general picture of legal norms and traditions that governed the society of Ancient Egypt based on historical records. The view that Ancient Egypt`s law served the despotic state regime of pharaohs who were the sole legislators with the power to create oppressive and unfair legal norms for its subjects is largely erroneous. The laws and legal customs of Ancient Egypt were based on the notions of ...

Jewellery has been in existence since the early humans began to become civilized. The human desire is to be adorned with precious metals and gems. This has been evident since the Neolithic and Palaeolithic eras. The early humans made jewellery that was formed from claws, bones, teeth and shells. This has been documented by archaeologists. The Egyptians, the Romans and the Greeks applied distinct methods for the creation of jewellery (Cartlidge 1985; Dorner & Turner 1985; Druff and Dormer 1995; Druitt 1986; Falk 1989; Game and Goring 1998; Gilhooley and Costin 1998; Grant 2005; Grant 2007; Hinks 1983; Hughes 1972; ...
Digital citizenship refers to the appropriate norms and responsible behavior with regard to the use of information technology. It involves effectively utilization of information to engage in society participation on politics and current issues. A digital citizen is therefore a person with extensive knowledge and skill to access internet sources of information through mobile phones and computer (Darity, 2008).
Digital citizenships influenced the downfall of the long Egyptian dictatorial government. People characterize themselves through media by creating blogs and social ...
Migrating from the home country to another country is often a stressful process for many individuals, but if seen with a positive attitude, immigration plays a major role to invest the skills and talents of an individual in the right place. One of the main reasons for immigration is poverty, which is common in the third world countries such as the African and a few Asian countries . People are forced to leave home in search of good job opportunities that pay higher wages so that the economic condition of the families is improved. I want to migrate to one of the most economically strong ...
- Robins, G. “Understanding Ancient Egyptian Art”. The Art of Ancient Egypt by Robins. Cambridge, Massachusetts: Harvard University Press, 2000. 12-29. Ancient Egyptian Art continued essentially unaltered throughout the long history of the Ancient Egyptians. In order therefore to be able to understand it, one should learn about the functions and techniques of art in Ancient Egypt but also about the religious and cosmological beliefs of the Ancient Egyptians. Robins, places Ancient Egyptian art into its cultural, social and religious context and thus allows the reader to fully comprehend it. As we have covered Ancient Egyptian and ...
- Who was Manetho? When did he live and write? What is the importance of his writings for our understanding of the ancient rulers of Egypt?

It’s a vast argument between Egyptologists and other writers, whether Bible is an ancient scripture inspired by Egyptian Mythology. There are so many sources available to show us the resemblance between Genesis 1 and Ancient Egyptian creation myths, especially the process of the creation of world. As it is said in Genesis; God created the world in six days and kept the seventh day for rest. In the same way in Egyptian myth, God had created the world in six days and rested for the seventh day. The order, in which the creations had been made, too has a remarkable ...
The term “hydraulic” refers to waters or liquid in motion and originated from the word “hydra,” a Greek term that means water. A hydraulic civilization is an empire that controls its population through controlling the supply of water. The environment determines the kind of civilization needed in a specific geography. Climate and natural resources play a crucial role in economic processes. Thus, controlling the supply of an available resource allows monopoly and power to be established and maintaine by the government. The government in hydraulic civilizations is a distinct and permanent institution that ensures and monitors that water supply are properly distributed. ...
Ancient Mesopotamians led a brutal existence, rocked by a long history of war over the control of fertile river valleys, which in light of the arid land that surrounded the region, meant life and death. The socioeconomic structure that emerged, in part out of necessity, ensured that women assumed domestic roles, but over time, these translated into massive gender inequalities. This paper asserts that women in ancient times as well as today belong to a lower class and have not been acknowledged for their contributions to the building of those societies and have not been treated equally then or today in Mesopotamia ...
Influence of Etruscan Literature on Ancient Rome Architecture
The architecture of ancient Rome is often described as distinctive in nature due to its hugely unique characteristics. However, a deeper analysis of this architecture reveals that it was significantly influenced by other civilizations. Ancient Rome architecture was inspired by architectural styles that preceded it and the influence of these civilizations is evident in most of the classic roman architecture pieces. The emergence of Roman civilization was contemporary with of the Etruscans, the Egyptian and the Greek dynasties. However, unlike all these cultures, the importance and relevance of the Rome Empire continued going as the first millennium BCE faded. The ...

Discussion Paper: Review of Egypt in Crisis
Introduction After more than 30 years of authoritarian rule under Hosni Mubarak, Egypt has finally moved towards democratization – a theme that is highly apparent during the so-called Arab Spring that caused massive uprisings and protests within the nation in 2011. With resounding calls for the establishment of free and fair elections following the ouster of Mubarak, Egyptians finally succeeded in electing their first-ever democratically elected leader in 30 years, Mohammed Morsi. Morsi, a leader of the Islamic political faction Muslim Brotherhood, won the elections not through a landslide victory, but rather through a mandate highly skeptical over his opponent, a Mubarak-era minister named ...

The Lake Moeris Quarry Road built while the Old Kingdom of Egypt between 26th and 22nd centuries B.C. is the oldest paved road of the world and is testimony to the excellent sense of planning and execution of the ancient Egyptians of that period. The 8-miles of the main road was built by placing large stone blocks that were kept on the desert sand and to facilitate passage of sledges filled with blocks of Basalt to the quay of Lake Moeris, and then on to River Nile. Those Basalt blocks were shipped downstream of Nile to construction sites in ...
There is a reason as to why people behave in any manner. These reasons may be practically or theoretically explained as to their causes. Theoretically, behaviors can be explained using theories such as the relative deprivation theory and the frustration aggression theory. This paper identifies a social behavior i.e. a revolution and tries to explain it using the available theories. Precisely, the paper discusses the Arab Spring revolution and provides its details as related to the frustration-Aggression theory. The Arab Spring is a pan-regional turbulence which affected the Arab countries such as Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco Sudan, ...
Background of the Book
Moses is considered in the bible as one of the meekest characters who have ever lived in human history. It could be considered that his capacity to control his temper on the Israelites as they are travelling along the wilderness towards the ‘promised land’, Canaan. While this good picture about a good man is painted in the bible, Zora Neale Hurston thinks differently about the man as he writes about him in the book Moses, Man of the Mountain. Considerably, this book, released in 1990 provides a distinct picture on how an African woman understands the course of life that Moses ...
